Sure see a lot of pessimism. This is baseball and this is one game. We lost to the number one team in the country by one run. Let's see how the weekend plays out.

Catastrophe syndrome.

No need to worry.

well who decided to take eades out and put ott in?

oh please, everyone screaming for eades to stay in is full of shite

everyone wanted ott in right there, and he should have been. he's the closer, he closes until he proves he cannot close, which he may have done tonight

Some of you guys are just idiots when it comes to baseball. He made all the right decisions. Bring the best closer in LSU history in to finish. Bunt the runner over to 3rd with no outs to set up an easy sac to tie it. It's easy calls. Poor execution. One game. Great team. Gonna be a great series.

That is called doing the unexpected. If it works, it is genius.

He played the statistically right move. Move the guy to 3rd and he can score any number of ways. And Jones pops up the bunt.

After the count ran to 2-1 I think the better move would have been to let Jones swing the bat. The odds there are the pitcher is going to give him a good fastball to hit instead of falling behind 3-1 with no outs. The bunt might have been the right call but the count changed things.

Looks like we will have to win the next two or we will have to play catch up the rest of the year. Really thought we had this till the 9th happened. Last year S. Carolina. This year Florida. Hopefully we won't play second fiddle in the near future.

I didn't agree with a few things. 1.) Bunting on the third strike 2.) Pulling Eades after 2 k's in the 8th 3.) Bunting with your 400 hitter with a runner already in scoring position with no outs

TOTALLY agree with you on all three.

This.

There wasn't one fan that wasn't screaming for Ott going into the 9th.

I dont understand why you would have a guy that is batting 416 bunt with no outs and a man on second. Why did they change pitchers? Horrible coaching decisions.

Summary:

Nola's two errors hurt just as much as Ott.
Eades will have a prominent fixture in the pitching staff very soon, just not sure where.
This team is gonna be damn strong in a month.

eta: as geauxjo said, poor execution on a few critical plays. Nola errors, Ross bunt and JJ bunt.

He played it by the book, which is exactly the problem.

We surely play enough SEC games that one game will not cost us the season.

Anomaly = NOLA errors

Ott will blow some save opportunities.
