On a side note, he indicated to me that a school or two put the screws to us and pulled off of our schedule. Thus, the weak non-conference slate.

This isn't the first time this has come up. I think he mentioned it on Mikie Mahtook's show before as well. It's why I've stopped complaining about how terrible the pre-conference schedule is. Can't help it when teams bail on you and you have to pick from what's left or what you can buy out of other contracts.

I understand all that, but the play itself can become incredibly dangerous and easily manipulated by the offense. A pitcher stepping off can be so subtle, what if the hitter swings while the catcher is receiving the pitch. I feel like their needs to be a rule that allows the catcher the freedom to receive the pitch as he did in that situation and bans the hitter from swinging or be automatically out.

I think the issue was the ump didn't see it and coach from the dugout made the call.

if I recall right the other coach had seen a similar play and tried to do that and then told the umpires it was a balk

It is confirmed that the colorful banners on the outfield wall are no longer. There will be solid white advertising similar to what it looks like behind home plate right now.

Are you sure it is solid white? From what he said, I assumed it was the green with white writing of the advertisers. The ball would be camouflaged on the white background. Pretty sure home plate is green with white writing of the official sponsors.

Look, CJJ isn't going to advertise his pitching rotation 3 weeks out...doesn't want to give opponents a scouting edge and also, can't assume that because someone is struggling now or super red hot, they will stay that way in 17 days.

If I am not mistaken, he mentioned that at coaches committee in the fall. They had to find replacement teams for 2 non-conference weekends because teams pulled off of the schedule.

Correct. I just meant only white as an ad color against green background.

I thought the issue on that bizarre play against bama was that the bama batter bailed out of the batter’s box before the other stuff went down.

Replay would have helped big time

Also, had high praise for the new strength coach. Players have physically changes (before and after pics taken) under his program.

i dont think people understand how big of a hire Chris was. Huge get and going to pay huge huge huge dividends over the next 3 years. already making a huge difference with his first fall here and what was surprising to me is how much of a difference he made in many of the upper classman.

total 180 degrees from what we had in every way, from programming, to expectations and to accountability.

this is prolly Jays second most important hire behind Pitching coach.

Jay mentioned in the meeting that is fourth strength coach and he is the best so far. LSU stepped up to pay him.

He's kind of a skinny guy. Not your typical looking strength coach.

yea chris isnt a meat head nor a mobility only guy like we have had in the past. He is a data driven guy

but what funny is they are lifting heavier, doing more "bro" lifts than ever yet they are putting on more muscle, moving faster and getting better results in the on field metrics like EV, throwing Velo, sprint times and jumps than ever before

chris came from the astros org and uses more of a conjugated approach using Velocity based training, lasers/force plates for jumps and sprints, radar guns on the med balls along with proteus. its pretty fricking fantastic

if you cant tell i think the absolute world of him and the way he does things. IMO he is one of the best in the business if not the best and was that before hand.

think of it like this...with chris we are essentially getting our own driveline/tread mini training facility at LSU.

Yes, I'm certain the OF wall will be solid white

Not sure if you are being serious. But that is not what Josh Jordan told me. He pointed to the green wall behind home plate with the white writing on them and told me that was what the outfield was getting.
