You clearly didn't play sports if you think all that thinking or coaching goes into sending a pinch runner out there....rounding 3rd, making that decision is just instincts of whether or not you think you can make it, thats it
I played plenty of sports growing up. And smarter players DO tend to think on their own (maybe over think) things like this. And many times coaches DO warn players about certain things a ref/ump has been doing.
I completely agree it was a bang/bang play, just the wrong move IMO considering the ump. He was THAT terrible tonight things need to be taken into consideration. You just can't leave it up to him to make a close call.

I don't think anyone involved takes into account the umps performance for the night in the heat of the moment like that

You are fricking out of your mind if you think Fields was thinking about the ump making previous bad calls as he was rounding third.

Again, can you argue against my point at all?
all I said is I'd prefer taking my chances with Jones knocking him in than running 2nd to home on an infield grounder. That's my opinion. Jones has been hitting well. But that's not my biggest beef with you. I think you're a complete joke because you consistently on this board call people idiots just because they don't agree with you. That makes you an ignorant cocksucker.

maybe if Fields was really out instead of safe then the the ump would have called him safe ?

Dude, seriously, you're like an alter for the guy who homers for John Brady all the time, get over yourself. Grow up, you're 40 something.

I didn't say WHILE he was doing it. I just said watching the game getting the same feel for him the rest of us did.

You're not thinking of that in that situation.
Posted on 3/23/12 at 10:59 pm to Broham
You're focused on getting to the plate before you are tagged, which he clearly did.

And my opinion was that the decision to go home certainly wasn't terrible. But you felt the need to take a stand against my outrageous statement.
Your opinion was against the percentages fwiw. I enjoy seeing you stick to your guns anyway though.

In baseball, a lot of calls are 50/50 but this was not one of them, he was safe.

I never criticized your opinion once. I criticized you calling the guy an idiot for expressing his own opinion. Neither scenario is all that outrageous.

Any chance you admit you are wrong on this one? I mean, I get that you don't respect my opinion but many guys in this thread who clearly know more about the game than you have told you that you are wrong.
Are you capable of admitting that you are wrong and others, including myself in this case, are right?

It's called an opinion, this isn't a factual case, some agree with you, others agree with me. Considering the ump and obviously the outcome it's not outlandish what I said exactly. I even said NORMALLY I'd be fine with him going and if he's called out, so be it, it WOULD be a 50/50 type shot. Clearly wasn't tonight though and we did pay for it in the end. Once again GET OVER YOURSELF, you are 40 something years old, you're not always right and your opinion is not always correct.

It was his opinion that the decision was outrageous...it was my opinion that it was "not terrible".
In truth, not only was it not terrible but it was the percentage play. Still, my opinion was very far away from saying he was an idiot for wanting Jones to hit there. You didn't read that because it didn't happen.

you said "shows what your opinion is worth"... I think we know the implications of that statement.

In reference to him calling it a terrible decision. You, yourself have admitted he is wrong for taking that stance. My opinion was that it was it was "not terrible"...which you already said you agree with.

just don't agree with being such a dickhead to the guy for expressing his opinion. I'm through with you. Have a great night.

So you are saying I am right except for the fact that clearly the ump was going to call out fields no matter what in this case?

Not that it matters but I'm not in my 40s. Not sure why you think that matters though.
My opinion is certainly not always correct. But in this case, it is. Sorry, you should just accept that you are wrong.
