Shoal Creek is where the Alumni Association watches. We went there last year for the Miami game and it was a blast. Gets really packed on LSU game days. I can only imagine how it will be when LSU is in town.

I’m gonna knock out some Salt Lick and Torchys as buffer food during the days. I’m aware there are prob better places, but these were good when I went about 5 years ago.

Good question
Sometimes I’d rather drink abs watch on tv than go inside

Just got 2 tickets today out of nowhere. Lurking around to plan our weekend.

Other’s can better answer your question: I either go, watch at home, or go to a suburban sports bar.
I lived in Lafayette for 2 years in the 80’s, and traveled all over Louisiana over the past 30 years. Don’t come to Austin for gumbo unless you’re going to someone’s house!!!
If you drive to Austin via US290, eat at Southside Market (bbq) in Elgin, ~ 25 miles before Austin. It’s been there for 100+ years. There is also one in Bastrop on Highway 71.
If you want Iive music after the game, 6th Street has a lot of bars. It is better down there than it’s been in 20 years. High priced real estate helped clean up the undesirables. There are bars all over downtown.
Looking forward to ya’ll coming to town!!!

Rustic Tap sounds fun, but even the presage ticket doesn’t guarantee you a seat. My parents are coming and they are around 60, so standing the whole game isn’t a great plan for them.
Shoal Creek is letting you reserve a seat, so we’re gonna go that route. My parents are staying downtown between 4th and 5th streets Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so we’ll have plenty of opportunity to go out. I’m hoping to see the campus and around the stadium earlier in the day and head over to Shoal Creek a couple hours before kickoff.
I grew up in Baton Rouge, went to LSU, and moved to Austin earlier this year. Looking forward to the Tigers coming to town!

If you have a car, hit TacoDeli just north of campus. Much better tacos than Torchys (though Torchys is pretty decent)

Those are still good picks. Keep in mind that the original Salt Lick is a little bit of a drive from downtown.

What about bars near campus?
Crown & Anchor and Posse East are your best bets. Close to tailgating and just north of the Dean Keeton and San Jacinto intersection.

La Barbecue on East Cesar Chavez. Recommend it.

La Barbeque has a line like franklins most of the time and is the size of a closet. Order to go

Looks like Shoal Creek reserved seating starts at 3:00. Looking for where to go for the day before heading to stadium.

Eh it’s comparable but debatable as to which is better. If you want legit better than Torchys, try Taco Mex on Manor or Las Trancas on Caesar Chavez

Austin is filled with bars, especially downtown. Just walk around.
On the east end of town there’s a cool Louisiana themed bar called St. Roch that has a very Nola neighborhood bar feel. I may swing by there.

Also the only non Mexican/non BBQ rec I’d make is Via 313. The best pizza I have ever had bar none.

I really like Micklethwaits. It's down the street from Franklins.

6th St is still pretty trashy (except the part half a mile east of the heart of downtown) Rainey St is much better

Other thread said WalkOns is sponsoring a tailgate at Stubbs BBQ? Looks like a good location to walk to stadium for game.
