My daughter (no pics) plays and is interested and we can’t seem to find anywhere. TIA

I’ve only known of one piccolo player for LSU but based on that small sample size I’m not sure I’d want that for my daughter.

Just kidding Pic was awesome back in the day.

Get this stupid shite out of here. This isn’t DCI. If you compete at Bands of America or Bandmasters competitions today, you get praise for featuring a quality woodwind section. All of the top bands do it at least a couple of times per show. Also, everyone mics soloists now in large competitive HS bands, so showing any bias against lower volume instruments like woodwinds and wood bar mallet instruments just shows you are a dinosaur. The volume limitation was the only knock on woodwinds in the past and it’s irrelevant today.

Despite all of that, college marching bands will always be tied to music education for multiple reasons. Woodwinds will always be a part of that training and will always be a part of the HS matching bands most of those graduates will go on to direct. LSU has always had a strong music ed program, so what you are saying will never happen.

All of us would. I’m just glad to be old enough there wasn’t a phone camera everywhere I went back in the day.
