Its burned into the memories of LSU fans from this day forward. Right or wrong his days are numbered. I still cannot get over calling a soft zone defense on the final play with 2 safeties guarding the back line of the end zone.

Insert the dumbasses saying “missed communication.” Baker is a joke.

It's already been talked about. When the receivers went out wide, Dottery was supposed to make an adjustment to the DL about their gaps. He didn't.

That one play isn’t the issue. The number of pts given up at end of half and in key drives is the issue.

Thats the problem. The 4 DL against 5 weren't stopping a draw for 3yds. We needed backers in the box. fricking simple really. Their 6 on our 4 for 3 yards. We lose 99/100 times in that alignment.

Is the post and question not literally about the 2pt conversation though?

No great defense has ever been a passive defense. Baker is passive during every crucial moment

Except it was one play to win the game. Stop them you win, dont stop them you lose.

so yeah, that one play was in fact the issue at the end of the day

it's worse than that. whilst both safeties over the top(not needed btw) had come down and 1 spied the middle and the other rushed the passer.

the WR in the slot on the left was wide open on a out route. the DB on the left did not even do his job whilst the DBs on the right stayed with their men. we were not supposed to be in zone there at the goal line. the guy on the left was in zone. how effed up is that?

and no that is not how combo coverage is played. like zone in middle and man on outside. somebody fricked up royally not understanding the coverage of the 5 Dbs underneath. complete shitshow from top to bottom.

I wish the RDE woulda seen we had nobody in middle and dropped back to the middle. yeah it only woulda been 3 rushing but that shite woulda been covered. now he may then have had enough time to throw but with 2 safeties deep we coulda doubled TWo receivers.

the RDE shoulda been screaming for a S to move up after he dropped off as the spy. of course none of that happened like it needed to on the fly.

If only the umpire would have stepped up there and made a big play for us.

You can put that on any player you want but they don’t understand what they’re not taught. Imagine a D White, P Queen, or any of the legit past LB’s seeing this and not calling for adjustments.

This defense is a reflection of its teacher.

I blame Lane for still trusting Baker to get a stop when he’s proven over and over again that he plays a soft arse zone and lets the opponent march right down the field in these situations. Baker is who he is at this point. Lane has to realize that and go for the win when you only need 1 freaking yard

The blake baker special with the game on the line. So bad it has poor Kentucky fans thinking their offense is elite

I agree that a lot of people have already written Baker off for that. You could also add the end of halves and the lousy prevent D.

How do you know what was called and if the team executed it? Let Kiffin explain it.

yeah i just watched the game film. I cannot watch anymore of that hot garbage.

refs may have missed a call on LSU (roughing) but they "missed" holds all night on UK. it absolutely made a difference in down and distance had they been called.

This. Baker is 0/4 with 25 points given up at the end of halves in our 2 losses by a total of 11 points. This team is a DC away from undefeated

From the same genius defensive mind that gave us this scheme. It allowed Kentucky to convert a 3rd and long on a running play.

Baker isn’t going anywhere. He’s not getting paid 4 million plus to be a head coach after this season anyway. Lane has to compensate and don’t trust him anymore.

Yea, on top of many issues defensively that got LSU to that point to begin with.

Yall keep saying stuff like this almost every year and yet yall are proven wrong most of the time. You can bet your arse if Lane doesn’t like what Baker did this year defensively and he doesn’t trust him then he would most definitely go looking for a new and better DC for next year.

If LSU loses to Alabama and Texas this same exact way then Bakers time here is definitely dwindling fast.
