Healthy athletes sitting out is a bad look for the LSU program, and college football in general. It will only get worse.

I'll go out on a limb and say more times than not these rich athletes don't give back a dime to their college. Sure some do, and we appreciate their contributions.

Let me know when you win a game for your team instead of watching from your seat.

I agree that if a player decides he does not want to play there is not anything anyone can do about it. However to say that a player only gets paid in school and meals means you are ignorant of what perks big time college football players get. Yes athletic departments make millions of dollars but also spend millions of dollars to have fabulous facilities and staffs which without the player would not reach the potential of being a top draft pick.

What are you even trying to say? That athletes provide more to society and LSU than us working stiffs? Are you high? You realize LSU is an institution of higher learning right? Football is an activity. There are thousands of students that graduate every year that contribute far more to the betterment of society and the university than an athlete on the football team. Putting athletes on some pedestal that we should just be thankful they graced us with their presence is hilarious.

The fans don’t have to bad mouth Greedy. There’s enough former players and ESPN talking heads that do it for us in the context of players sitting out the bowl game.

It’s a bad look, and most agree that it just sucks that it’s come to this and become acceptable.

It’s a systemic issue and it isn’t changing until the players get paid or the CFP expands.

If we didn’t recruit and produce first round talents, we wouldn’t have this problem.

The problem is we seem to be the trendsetters. No, we are not the only school who has juniors leave early, but we've had FAR more juniors leave early than any other school, and no we don't have more talent than everyone else. We're now the first school with two players to voluntarily sit out the bowl game for fear of injury. That's a problem for college football if we are just accepting it being nothing more than a stepping stone. No loyalty to the team, the fans, or the university. Just about me, myself, and I.

It stings a little extra this year due to our injuries. Without Fournette we still had Guice and Darrel Williams.

You’re right though.

"why do you think elites go play for Alabama? It's so they can compete for titles and go down the pipeline to the league. LSU's chance for the title is gone. It's time to go to the league"

So let's just close up shop and have everyone who didn't go to Alabama quit on the team because it means nothing. These players making these stupid, selfish decisions are HARMING the schools that allowed them to play and get the exposure that their potential contracts might reward. frick Greedy. We don't need his kind with such a selfish attitude. How do we know he hasn't been mailing it in most of the year? He has shafted the very school that gave him the exposure he needed to be a high draft choice. His selfishness will be taken into account by whoever drafts him and it will cost him money on what they might have offered to begin with. Quitters are not a valued commodity.

Well if they coming here to play a year or two and then bolt for the pros Id rather they take their asses to some other school. These young men that do shite like Greedy is doing is selfish and only looking out for himself. You signed a scholarship to attend school you should honor it.

No. That you’re a fan of a university sports team criticizing a persons life and career choice based on some perceived loyalty that he should have to your sports team that he has already contributed to in a way that exceeds your contribution to same sports team by every conceivable measure.

See that word loyalty, Greedy has shown he has very little for LSU, so I don't know why you feel the need to defend him.

Except that he can continue to support the team in many ways beyond just playing in this one meaningless game that has no bearing on anything LSU will or won’t do towards the championship. He can donate. He can publicize. He can recruit. All from a higher platform then as a collegiate player.

And I said “perceived loyalty”. Basically your perception of his loyalty which is essentially irrelevant.

He SHOULD make this move. any thing else is borderline irresponsible.

Any game outside of the playoffs is a consolation game.

Grow up.
