On the bright side, if LSU gets to the Bama 30, they are likely getting points. Bama has to rely on TDs as even close FGs are a crap shoot.

Alabama's red zone offense is #74 in the country.

To cut off the "Buh, Bama scores on long plays so they haven't had as many chances" argument, they have 10 more RZ trips than does LSU.

Here are the Top 6 Red Zone Defense Ranks

LSU:

La Tech (10) [118]
UGA (25) [75]
MS State (36) [25]
UF (62) [68]
AU (64) [61]
Miami (105) [94]

Bama:

Louisville (96) [73]
Ole Miss (114) [23]
Tenn (118) [120]
A&M (121) [6]
Mizzou (123) [113]
Arky (125) [57]

Why did you not include Ole Miss for LSU as well? It's, so far, the teams' only common opponent.

We've been ahead in these games and getting 3 widens the lead. So I can see how having a lead with a great kicker can take a lot of urgency off of your offense once you get to the 33 yard line

Yes, but if you need to play with more urgency and you haven't had to do it much, that's not something you can just flip on like a light switch.

Redzone scoring, like anything else, you have to actually do it a lot to become proficient in it.

I think one factor in this is the reliability of Tracy. A SURE 3 points weighs heavily on red zone decisions.

Stop peeing on my head and telling me it's raining. No offense goes into the red zone with the goal of kicking a FG. Sure-thing kicker or not. We've had to SETTLE for FGs b/c we've been unable to punch it in the end zone. Great to have a kicker like Tracy for sure, but let's not kid ourselves - those FG's are more out of necessity than a strategic red zone decision.

Fan criticism often is on shakey ground, Second guessing play calling may be the shakiest. We don’t know all of the factors that go into a specific call, most of the time.

Is there a tab for td's only? Because if you go by that website LSU is 17th in redzone scoring while bama is 76th

The same can be said for bama too.
