"It’s an affirmation of things being done right," Miles told the newspaper.

A perfect example of Miles-speak.

Sure would have been a nice gesture to see the leader of the biggest brightest athletic program on campus give back to the smallest dullest athletic program on campus. We are only as strong as our weakest link.

So he should have forced his daughter to go to a subpar program and a less prestigious school, that she didn't want to attend, in order to justify some sick "spreading the wealth" ideal?

Someone needs to tell Mr/Mrs Mahapatra to "Satya arse down and shut up!"

ETA: With our lunatic fanbase, would you want to attend the same university where your father is the head coach of the largest and most publicized/scrutinized team on campus? Really? She did the right thing. And Austin is an awesome city. Good for her and if people cant see why she did it, take off the purple sunglasses.

Maybe, but it also could have been seen by the other members of that team as her getting special benefits because of who her daddy is, giving them a reason to ostracize her.

Cant' fault her for wanting to get away from the family and learn something about herself. I also can't fault Les for letting her. He even made a joke about how if she stayed at LSU, he would "be able to eat lunch with her every day", meaning he understood her need to learn to stand on her own.

Sometimes, it's not all about LSU.

Of course not Dumas. Spreading the wealth has nothing to do with his swimmer daughter's choice of school. She made the absolute right decision to swim for Texas. Spreading the wealth is about using what we have to improve and develop ALL LSU Althetic programs.

Or she should swim at one of the best swimming schools in the NCAA that routinely puts out Olympians. One where the coaching she wants to receive is. Don't be an asshat

It's all about the coaching. Always is. Always will be. Just ask the Gamecocks in SC.

not the way it works man. children are their own people and, in most cases, their parents allow them to make their own choices when they "mature". besides, I would not want to attend college where my dad was the football coach; I can see clear disadvantages to that.

Yep. But who knows, maybe she will be at a school one day where her daddy is the head football coach. You don't think they didn't roll out a few red carpets to Mr and Mrs Miles while they did the parent visit thing in Texas.
