I am extremely intrigued by this match up this week. Their offense is a shite show, but they have a good AND deep Dline. They will stack the box and make Etling throw. The secondary is not tremendous, but better than Miss St. Not to mention on the road. If he looks good in this game, I will start to feel confident we can win against Bama, Arky, and Ol Miss!
Thoughts?

If we can win this game on the road.....maybe we got something going. Etling HAS to play well and our secondary needs to quit going Jeckyl/Hyde during stretches of the game. The receivers are coming along but still give me reason for concern (Chark's drop at the goal line).

Auburn is a dangerous team because they got nothing to lose and they know it. Couple that with playing in JH and the fact the I'm sure we will get butt fked by the refs as per usual over there.
We need a complete, 4-quarter effort from the O, D, and STs. Anything short of this will in all likelihood end with a loss.

Their offense won't be able to move the ball against our defense so our offense should be working with short fields to score. So far Auburn's defense has played spread teams. We'll be the first power running team that D-Line has faced.

I'm not looking to our offensive woes at all, actually. Our defense looks ok...but still improving. Malzahn with the homefield advantage will be looking to exploit it all game. How will we handle his hurry-up offensive schemes? He WILL get yards.....I just don't know how many times that will equate to touchdowns.

What did we do against State's vaunted front seven...we threw the ball first and then ran it successfully...except LF's fumbles kinda' messed that strategy up for sure...just the truth, folks!

Mississippi State Front 7 is legit. For the first time this season, our OL came to play. I bet after the Auburn game, someone will start a thread about how the Florida game will be our first test.

I think this is a much tougher matchup than people are realizing on this board.
But as you said, he has success there, think I think we may something special.
Also, our defense scares me a little. We are blowing some coverages, especially LBers...and Auburns offense is based on misdirection. Could have some blown plays unfortunately.

States front 7 is no better than West Monroe's front 7. Auburn will be the test!

Miss st. front 7 is good..but I think the Dline for Auburn is better. And i think the secondary is a little better for Auburn... And on the road. This is our first real test. That is a fact.

I for one would love to see it!!!... Of he throws for 200 and a TD or 2 in this game, to me, we can beat anybody.

21-20 LSU. I figure a turnover will account for one Auburn TD and maybe they'll be set up for second one on a punt return or something.

I think we'll lose to Florida, Bama, Arky and maybe A&M.

Florida will either not have their starting QB or it'll probably be his first week back if his injury evaluation is accurate. Bama, Arky, and A&M are in November so Etling and Crew with the defense can still grow by then.

Yes. If DelRio isn't playing, we might be able to take a close game to OT. But their D though.....

I suspect Auburn is still shell shocked from the hurting that Fournette laid on them last year.

Exactly my thoughts. If we look good against Auburn, we still can grow. And that goes for our defense as well as far as understanding scheme and where to be.

True on both counts. But I like Florida's D, playing at home and McElwain over Miles to give the Gators the W.

Maybe our guys can improve over the season. This has not been the vase over the past 5 years, but maybe 2016 will be different.

At the same time, Bama and Arky have a history of improving as the season goes along--maybe that too will change this year. But Bama is better than us and Arky won't be inferior in any way when we play them--on the road.

I don't like playing A&M on the road either, especially following Bama, Arky and Ole Miss, one of the tougher three-game stretches for any SEC team.

I hope I'm wrong on all counts and we finish 11-1.
