maybe so, and if that IS the case. i guess it further proves his inability to help QBs preogress.

No, I think that's not wise to blame it on coaching just because a player is not doing well. I played sports, and from my experience, it was always more on the player than it was the coach.

So just because he went from #18 to #9 in total offense it is an improvement even though the Yardage/points were in decline?

I am happy to see we are loading up on QBs now so that we don't have to go through this whole thing we are going through now again. Yeah, one can say we should have loaded up on QBs in the past so that we aren't in the situation we're in now, but nobody was complaining about it at the time.

2003 -- J Russell, Flynn
2004 -- none
2005 -- none (Ryan Perilloux ended up getting booted)
2006 -- none

2007 -- J Lee
2008 -- JJ
2009 -- Shep, Chris Garrett
2010 -- Zach Lee

Sorry if this has been posted but...

If the post is true (and it's pretty damned convincing), and Crowton is the problem, do we still bitch about Miles interfering with the offensive game plan? It certainly puts it in a whole different light. What if, like last year with the D coordinators, he realizes that Crowton is the problem and is trying to keep things afloat until the end of the season before he makes a change?

Many of the things that have had me scratching my head, including post game comments on the offense by Miles, make alot more sense when looked at from this angle.

I am honestly scared now.

That is like reading something from someone who was REALLY trying to warn us.

Why would he do that and seem so accurate if not a prophet?

What my question is in response to that article: why would LSU hire him? I realize that he was a top rated coach but if the stats are what they are...why is he perceived so highly (and I'm not saying he isn't, just asking)?

That's what I was wondering.

everyone wants to talk about how bad our offense played but florida has only given up 3,6,13,7, and 3 points against us.What did you expect? Our offense has scored 31,23,31,30,20,and 3 against the best defense in the country. I think we will be ok and we will see that against Auburn next Sat.

because the initial numbers are so strong that they're irresistible. That and I'm sure he's a nice guy who interviews well, after all he's had lots of practice.

Where was this subjective spinning in 2007? EXACTLY! Funny it comes out now. It states that GC is good. he has been successful everywhere he has been. A down year here or there? sure. It happens. Like we have not been there. See 2002 with the 82nd ranked offense. The article does not even metion him at La. Tech, how ironic and I just love how this kid thinks dropping from 34 ppg in 05 to 29.5 ppg in 06 is a huge dropoff. Most anybody would take that. If that is not subjective spinning I do not know what is. LMAO. Pure pack mentality here. The guy is ranked the #3 OC in the nation coming into this year. Heck, even with Lee last year we still averaged 30 ppg! I agree though no excuse for this year, Miles needs to let him do his job or take over himself.

Is it possible our o-line simply has the weaknesses that we thout it would, and that our 19 year old QB is, well, 19?

I would just like to see better adjustments from the OC. If the line is the weakness, which is fact, stop trying to throw out of the 5 wide set, bring in a back and TE to assist. Also, there was alot of hype on our bigger recievers against the Gators smaller corners. I am no gameplanning expert, but it seems to me the most basic of plays to take advantage of this is to scheme to get 1 on 1 on the outside, 3 step drop, throw it up and let reciever go get it. We didn't try this once if i'm not mistaken.

Fat B,

You should take the time to read the picklwagon blog post by Josh Harrison again.

I have been unable to find stats from Louisiana Tech. If anybody knows where I can find them, please point me to where they are.

Another telling sign is that Dennis Dixon went from struggling with turnovers(14 ints) in 2006 to being all world under Chip Kelly the next year. 20 tds and only 4 ints and frontrunner for the heisman until he got hurt

I am not taking up for Crowton on this, but I would be interested in seeing the maturation of the O line OR was using over the time span as well, plus Dixon gained another year of experience. I think a large part of the problem is utilization of too much contrived BS on O that young players have a hard time implementing in games. Opponents and their coaches who have seen it 3 years, not so much.

How about the Bears stats with GC as OC?

In 1998 Dave "Wannstache" (sic) went 4-12 (W-L) as Bears Head Coach. In 1999, the Bears were 6-10 under Dick Jauron as HC and CG as OC. In 2000, they went 5-11.

In 1999, the Bears scored 17.00 points per game, gained 345.18 yards per game, and scored 31 TD’s.
Passing: 59.06%, 272.00 YPG, 25 TD’s, 22 INT’s
Rushing: 396 rushes, 1,387 yards, 3.50 YPC, 86.69 YPG, 4TD’s

In 2000, the Bears scored 13.5 PPG, gained 283.81 YPG, and scored only 22 TD's total.
Passing: 56.08%, 187.81 YPG, 12 TD's, 16 INT's
Rushing: 417 rushes, 1,736 yards, 4.16 YPC, 108.5 YPG, 6 TD's
James Allen rushed for 1,120 of those yards.

After Crowton in 2001: 21.12 PPG, 293.37 YPG, 37 TD’s
Passing: 59.65%, 189.18 YPG, 20 TD's, 16 INT's
Rushing: 475 rushes, 1,742 yards, 3.67 YPC, 108.87 YPG, 12 TD's.

Dick Jauron's Bears went 13-3 (W-L) in 2001. They went to the playoffs for the first time since 1994, but they lost in the Divisional Playoff game to Philly.

It seems that LA Tech is the only anomaly in the Gary Crowton Pattern©.
