The bar at the Westin across the street is always a great stop.

There's probably some good tailgating at the homeless shelter around the corner from the stadium.

You would never want to tailgate by Minute Maid.

Downtown Houston is a disgusting dump.

Go to a bar or restaurant.

Some people care about tailgating more than the game.

Yep. Went to an Astros game in June to find my window busted out and several items stolen out of my truck. That is a cesspool of a neighborhood.

You left out the most important part.

Where did you park?

By what metric? It is clean, well lit and has a ton of bars and restaurants, especially in the area around minute maid. It has also an extremely low crime rate for a major metropolitan area.

worked downtown Houston for years, parked for dozens of events after work on the street or surface lots over the years and not once had a window smashed or anything stolen though I also never left anything valuable in the car

Me neither. Some people just want to make everything seem so terrible. Sensational Fox News effect. Show footage of a bad street and declare that the city is overrun. Blah blah blah. I love these guys talking about Houston when most of them are probably from Louisiana.
