My thoughts boil down to the basics. Our defense will continue to improve. Things are slowly falling in our favor around the SEC. If we can find a way to improve our QB play & stay healthy....

....Okay, I'll say it: We CAN be the 2010 version of Alabama, 2008. Seriously.

We are AVERAGE SEC QB play away from being a serious contender. Not next year- this year.

It's going to be a fun journey- and it all starts this Saturday night.

Go ahead & laugh if you want- but these are my thoughts at the moment.

What I would love and dream for is: 12-0, 11-1
It would be good if we went: 10-2

What the EVIDENCE from the first 2 games indicates.....
Is that we will likely go: 9-3, 8-4

I prefer 12-0, but my gut says 10-2. We drop EITHER UF or Bama, and either Auburn or Arky.

Not so sure about the last two though, so 11-1 might not be out of the question.

For me personally, as has been the case over the past two seasons, I lurk on The Rant and post occasionally until the first loss. At that point I become so frustrated with my fellow online Tiger fans that I painfully remove myself from The Rant until spring practice starts.

general feeling about how the rest of the season unfolds?

All phases of the team have shown flashes of good play. As always, the question is whether we can put it all together and bring it consistently. If so, we could have a great season. If not, anything is possible.

8-4 or 7-5. frustrating, underachieving football.

Slow down Nuts....sounds like you're creeping a little too close to the "positiger" side.

I will also add that another current feeling about this season is that the NegaTigers will still find something to gripe about involving Coach Miles - even if we DO run the table.

We may lose to bama and arky.We could beat them. We will not lose more than 2 games.

I refuse to yield games before we even play them.

I feel we may have an exceptional defense and can therefore win every contest.

Amen, Brother.

Those who do may want to have a chat with Jacksonville State or James Madison.

I am pretty certain that if we beat State this weekend we will at least start 7-0 because we will beat Florida unless something changes for that team. They cannot run or pass and our defense, by that game, will be unreal. I think we will have many kinks worked out by then on offense as well. Moreover, playing, and getting physically and mentally beat up by Bama at their place, will prove to be too tough for UF to overcome.

We beat McNeese the following week and then go off to Auburn. Auburn, at this point to me, is a complete unknown. We will probably spy Newton with Baker. It is a very winnable game.

We then get a weeks rest before Bama at home. Both teams should/could be undefeated and it will likely be a match-up of #1 versus #3. Biggest atmosphere in Tiger Stadium ever...

We then take on an Ole Miss team at home that is not what they have been the last two years, and finish with what is, as of today, an unproven Arky team.

I really do think this team can do whatever they want with a few breaks here and there, minimal injuries and better QB play.

While the defense played well last year, a good bit of that was the improvement over 2008. Other than a few breakdowns here and there (really, we can count about 8 defensive snaps as D or F, and only 2 or 3 in the Vandy game), the defense has played more aggressively and effectively than at any point since 2007. Huge plus.

Special teams are as good, so far, as the 2005/2006 special teams, which were stellar. I was really skeptical of #7 being that guy, but, at least in game 1, he looked like a candidate for an NFL return guy. Punting has been solid and coverage has been outstanding, so far.

Offensively, "flashes" is precisely the correct word. Three to four postive plays in a row is about the most we have gotten. A couple of sustained scoring drives have looked impressive. The offense is clearly up and down, and it is not solely based on the rhythm of the QB play - Ridley seems hot or cold (shades of KW). He was running well against UNC, but fumbled. If he has just three more games like the Vandy effort, LSU may win out (if those three performances are against Florida, Bama and Arkansas).

This is really encouraging that I am seeing so many 10-2 records. I have been on negative side of our coaching staff the past year or so, but if we go 10-2 I will be extremely excited. But I say 9-3. Losses to Alabama and either Arky or Ole Miss...both of them always give us trouble. And then a loss to Florida because ultimately our QB play will cost us a game and I think this is the one, especially at the Swamp

They will keep progressing and getting better and because of their great defense will go undefeated and win the SEC.

I SAY! 12-0

I SAY! 14-0

Just curious what you have seen from either LSU or Alabama to make you say that...
