Don't y'all think the coaches know what kind of QB talent is on the team and who gives them the best chance to win.
Sure... like Jim Haslett had when he played Aaron Brooks and let Jake Delhomme go. Coaches see and know all. They are regular geniuses. That's why most of them majored in kinesiology and draw with crayons.
Les is smarter than most. He majored in Finance. I wish it had been Offense. He is certainly better at contract negotiations than picking a QB. I congratulate him. He has a proper sense of values.
It did get Haslett that neat job as DC at Washington though. It's a sort of fraternity and even if you're caught with a stripper on the school's credit card you'll get another job. See Mike Price.

BT - don't put me in there when I just give fair assessments. I think this quote from before the Vandy game states my position.
That "next time" may be Saturday night. If he gets in - he has to seize the day! And I also stated before the Vandy game that both QBs have had their sucky moments. Saturday was the worst I've seen JJ play. It seemed like his head wasn't in it. He fumbled on the first play, totally missed a good shotgun snap and threw a real bad pass in the end zone that ended the possession. That is STRUGGLING. He usually takes care of the ball and completes most passes. If he looks the same against State, then you have to shake things up. Because at that point, the things that make him a reasonable choice to be in there aren't there.
Wait...wait...wait - what is that bull$hit? Count you in that line of thinking? All of your posts give off a different sentiment. Those aren't the words of a captain. They better hold a special election and vote somebody else's azz in.
I understand the sentiment of "it can't be any worse" than last night, but I'd rather not say it...let's just say I've been surprised before (and not in a good way).
quote:
As for Lee, I'm not against giving him a shot at some point (if JJ actually struggles). That's the point of the backup. I was hoping we'd score another TD and put JL in to get him some work and see if he's improved.
You can say what you want, but La. Tech was a chance for him to show some improvement and pull closer to playing in games if our offense is struggling. He had just played the week before against Bama for almost a full half, so it wasn't like he was coming in without playing in a long time. But there was nothing that he did that I could say was even close to good in that game. You have to cash in every chance you get when you have an opportunity to show people that you've improved (whether it's because of an injury or whatever). But he didn't do that. Maybe next time he will.

count me in on this line of thinking... however Ill take the wait and see approach.
Cant be any worse than what weve seen so far.

We have already established that Miles doesn't read books. Therefore, Miles' copies of Coaching for Dummies and Recruiting for Dummies are just for show.

The same MSU defense that allowed 17 and 0 in the 2nd half to a pretty good offense?

Don't be ridiculous now. The Bama game was in no way JL's fault and it was a tough situation for him to have to play in. He started off okay too.
But JJ was noticeably better. JJ threw a TD in the 1st half. He was the first QB to do that against Bama last year and we played them in November.
JJ passed for over 100 yards at half against Bama's awesome D and had accounted for 130 yards of offense when he got hurt on the first possession of the 2nd half. JL ended up accounting for 32 total yards and an INT. After we got that safety, we had good field position and Scott ran for 34 yards. Ridley had a nice 8-yard run to cap it off. JL had one 7-yard pass on that drive. You have to at least be fair.

They seem weak at RB, and at WR's not named Darvin.
OL consistently broke down throughout the game.
I think the offense is overblown.

our front seven is pretty good, the gameplan was to blitz and that cost us a bit on some runs and screen passes. it's hard to get after newton even on blitzes, he's very quick. with JJ(most likely) in there we can just load the box like last year and force him to beat us.

People think it happened because our running game was so terrible.

i may be thinking of another game, i just remember LSU only rushing for 35 yards.
in any case i don't expect anything other than a tough, grind it out game.

JJ was typically throwing against 5-6 DB's last year.
You guys ran a shite load of nickel, iirc.

Been on the lee bandwagon. Hopefully he proves us right.

Statistically, it was one of his best games of the year. Especially considering we had a dismal 30 yards rushing on the ground with I can 100% assure you, WILL NOT happen this weekend. This year's Oline isn't stellar, but it is MUCH improved over that disaster we put on the field last year.

Ridley only had 40yards going into the 4th quarter vs. Vandy, Vandy wore down as their D was on the field so much, and they are generally not very talented up front.
If State can sustain a few drives and play strong up front why won't it be a good game?

On 9 carries, he had 8 of his 17 carries in the 4th when he ran for 119. Not to mention he was only ONE of the 6 RBs we played in that game.

I never said it won't be a good game. I expect it'll be close for the first 2 1/2 quarters (like all of ours are) then we'll pull away in the latter minutes.
Of course that pretty much depends entirely on the QB play of LSU.

I'm ready to see Lee again. It took me about a year to get all of the bad taste out of my mouth from his disasterous '08 season but I'm ready to root him on now. At least he did show flashes of brilliance in '08. I haven't seen a singly flash of brilliance from JJ this year and it doesn't look very promising now that the schedule is getting harder.
