frick Clemson. Bunch of east coast redneck douchers. Never been less impressed with a fanbase after going to the chicken bowl this past year.
ETA: while this topic is hot, why don't they stop stealing Tiger Rag from us?

I don't know the history, but did LSU steal the Tigers nickname from Clemson as well? Who had the nickname first?

I doubt it since the name comes from a Confederate regiment in the Civil War that served under Robert E. Lee in the Army of Northern Virginia.
This is an interesting read on the Louisiana Tigers:
The Terrifying Tigers
quote:
The Tigers’ name lives on today. Contrary to popular belief, the Louisiana State University Tigers are not named for a ferocious feline but for Louisiana’s most famous Civil War soldiers. In the early 1900s, Dr. Charles E. Coates of Louisiana State University was trying to decide on a name for the football team. When he was told that the Louisiana Tigers were the toughest set of men who ever lived, he chose them as his mascot.

Pisses me off because Tiger Rag was written and composed specifically for LSU.

I forgot that they use Tiger Rag... however they play it funny and ruin the song. We have the better and original version.

The way I read the article is that he praises LSU and all of its traditions, winning, and championships and pretty much runs down Clemson. Almost as if he was asking mighty LSU to throw poor old Clemson a bone. That would at least give them one thing they could hang their hat on.

Even if we did steal it, who gives a frick? Death Valley today is in Baton Rouge Louisiana. No ifs ands or buts about that one.

They mad.
LSU's Tiger Stadium is called Death Valley because of the crowd, the atmosphere, opponents saying how difficult it is to play here, etc, etc.
Clemson's is because it's hot outside and a rock.
LSU has a live 450lb tiger that lives on campus.
Clemson has a gay looking stuffed animal tiger costume.
Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after LSU decided to go full retard at the end of the Chicken Bowl, they kinda have a right to frick with LSU about this.

True, they did win the chicken bowl, but everything I said still stands. Poor Clemson...

Orange, Purple and the Tiger — The first "colors" of Clemson can be seen in an early diploma displayed on campus. But to everyone's surprise, they're red and blue! The orange and purple began when Walter Merritt Riggs formed Clemson's first football team in 1896. Because Riggs had come from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (later renamed Auburn), he borrowed ideas from their team colors, orange and purple, and their mascot, the Tiger. Although the football team was known as the Tigers and often used "Eat 'Em Up, Tigers" as a slogan, it wasn't until 1954 that a Clemson student donned the mascot suit. In 1993, the Tiger was joined by the Tiger Cub. LINK
