Everyone steals from everyone. It's not about who starts something, it's about who makes it famous... LSU made Death Valley famous and this guy wants us to give our fame to Clemson...

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Did LSU steal their colors from Mardi Gras? Who cares... We made the colors ours.

It’s especially unfair considering that “Death Valley” is the coolest stadium nickname in sports.

LSU’s version is now better known than the original and the Bayou Bengals already have so much more history and tradition than the orange-clad Tigers.

Even though most LSU fans wont talk about it, the lose to Clemson in the chicken bowl was awful. We were a much better team but for some reason the players looked like they would rather be some where else. Very disappointing!

Death Valley sounds like a hard place to win. Therefore, LSU shoots the BB gun.

Tiger Stadium was allegedly called “Deaf Valley” because of the stadium’s deafening noise but, as former LSU sports information director Bud Johnson told The Advocate, morphed into “Death Valley” after LSU and Clemson played each other in the 1959 Sugar Bowl. “No one called it Death Valley here until after we played in the Sugar Bowl,” Johnson told The Advocate.
you know there were old folk on here that called it Death prior to that sugar bowl......so the story is just what he thinks.

That's what happens when you lose to inferior teams. Crap like this comes out.

This jackass can let me know whenever Clemson is considered even one of the most, much less THE MOST difficult stadiums to play in.

this...pretty much true. was it just the fact that we lost to Bama or the way we lost to Bama though?

then he re-justifies the case for LSU later when he says that we have more history, tradition, and hardware then Clemson...but then says Clemson "should" have soul possession of 'Death Valley' because they need "better branding"

...or... The purpose of the article could be "better branding" for his little known website. He is trying to raise his hit count by posting obvious bait for college football's most rabid fan base. I'm sure he is awaiting your comments on the site like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Didn't we play last year bowl game for the title of real tigers and real death valley? Didn't we lose? So...the clemson fanbase can say what they want , they beat us fair and square for it.

In 1945, Presbyterian’s football coach bestowed the nickname ”Death Valley” on Clemson’s Memorial Stadium because of the unyielding heat that reminded him of the real Death Valley desert in California. Former Clemson head coach Frank Howard cemented the nickname in 1966 by putting a rock from the actual Death Valley on a pedestal atop the hill above the east end zone

So a coach from another school nicknames Clemson's stadium in 1945, LSU morphs Deaf into Death in 1959, then Clemson puts up a rock from death valley in 1966.

To me, that says an LSU person named the LSU stadium, before a Clemson person named the Clemson stadium.

Disclaimer: I like LSU...

No, there was no game to play for the rights to the "Death Valley" moniker.

Let's put this to rest because we know regardless of the "actual" inception of the name, when people mention "Death Valley" LSU is the first place they think of....end of story!

Anyway found this one the web:

Who has the original Death Valley - Clemson or LSU?

Although LSU's Tiger Stadium was constructed nearly 20 years earlier, the "Death Valley" nickname was first applied to Clemson's Memorial Stadium in reference to Howard's Rock, which was plucked for the desert sands of the actual Death Valley in California.
LSU's use of the nickname came along quite by accident. In a tongue-in-cheek reference to Clemson Memorial's nickname, LSU supporters began referring to their stadium as "Deaf Valley", due to the magnificent volume levels produced within.
Unfortunately, this creativity was lost on television commentators, newspaper men, and, yep, a lot of us football fans alike and after years of incorrectly referring to both as "Death Valley", the nickname stuck in Baton Rouge as well.

In the words of Coach Miles, "this is the place where dreams come to die", so let's move on to the next subject!

Screw those ACC pricks. They do not deserve a quality quarterback like they have. A ONE point win in a game that was unimportant should tell you how much penis envy they have.
