Please tell me you see the difference between bumping shoulders and smacking an armed guard or cop on the arse?

It's real surprising (well not that surprising actually) at the number of people trying to downplay this incident because he's a "security guard" and that somehow makes him an acceptable target to be touched inappropriately

What are you responding to? I am not talking about the smoking.

i'm talking about why he was sent back there.

no win situation; a bunch of adrenaline-fueled football players smoking cigars and being in charge of telling them to knock it off while former players throw wadded up bills at you and slap you on the arse.

what did you want him to do? just high-five OBJ and say 'have fun guys'? i bet he would have lost his job if he had not at least tried to get them to stop.

Maybe the players shouldn’t have lit cigars

I mean, it’s state law that there is no smoking in public buildings

I’m not sure why you keep saying this. The fact is, it WAS on video.

It isn't an evidence thing. He is embarrassed that it became viral. That is why I keep saying it.

If it wasn't on video, the guy would've just forgotten about it and no one would know. But since this has been seen by literally millions of people, he has his jimmies rustled and is pressing charges.

Handled the cigar situation unnecessarily like an a-hole. Watch the video, there is no reason for a grown arse man to behave that way about kids smoking victory cigars.

Dude was embarrassed Y’all are making fun of him & calling him a cocksucker, a loser, a douche based off the video, you think he isn’t getting that from people on the streets?

Well if the shoe fits....Let’s be real here; the guy didn’t use common sense in this situation and he somewhat deserves the ridicule.

It would’ve been one thing to go to a coach or administrator but he took it upon himself to start searching Damien Lewis. That’s poor judgment and makes him look like an a-hole. If you watch the video; Odell is clearly; albeit with drunken idiotic logic; trying to defuse the situation and get him away from Damien Lewis. They both deserve ridicule but the security guard comes off worse to me bc he didn’t use proper judgment or assess the situation.

On a strange positive, I almost think this will help LSU with the cash giving crap.

Common sense says he finds a coach or someone in charge instead of trying to go after these massive athletic specimens fueled by adrenaline himself.

He could've gotten help to get the room's attention as well and calmly said "Hey guys I know you're having fun and I don't want to stop the party, but we can't light cigars in this building"

I'm sure Ed Orgeron would've obliged in making this happen.

And yes, after getting spanked by OBJ he could've definitely laughed it off and said the same sort of thing I wrote above.

Common sense is not smoking a cigar in the locker room.
Common sense is not smacking the dude on the arse.

Odell is acting like a douche.

Do you really think Odell is going to stop acting like a douche if some ball boy comes up and tells him to stop? NO, dont kid yourself.

Ehhh

If you just win the title and someone hands you a cigar and lighter, you do what you've seen on television a million times before and light that victory stogie up.

Guarantee you this was illegal too and nothing happened, in California no less where smoking is basically considered murder now:

Slapping the arse of a female on the street is a lot different than a male in a football locker room after winning the national championship.

It is disingenuous to compare the two situations.

It's pretty disingenuous to condemn one and make excuses for the other all based on a jersey someone wore years ago.

HE WAS LITERALLY DOING HIS JOB.

There's a reasonable way and an unnecessarily aggressive way of accomplishing this.

Reasonable: He could have gone up to players in a calm fashion and asked they please put out the cigars. Or even tell one of the coaches and let them handle it.

Unnecessarily aggressive: Get in the faces of kids and scold them, then insist on checking their gatorade bottles for alcohol (which I haven't seen is in his job description). Threatening to arrest them (as has been reported by multiple people there to witness) is also completely over the top. And this is all after the greatest night of their lives while they're celebrating. I'm aware that doesn't mean they should be allowed to break a law, but as others have said, the context matters and you can show some discretion and understanding of the situation.

I don't think anybody has any issue with the idea of asking them all to extinguish the cigars, but from all the evidence he went on a huge power trip over it. His demeanor is probably why the cell phone camera got turned on in the first place
