re: Armand Williams wasn't a huge recruit, but what's going on?

Did you just pick the tallest receiver on our roster that hasn't played and try to blame it on Les wasting talent? A player you admittedly know NOTHING about?
frick this, I'm staying off the rant until baseball season

i just don't understand dogging someone for being an LSU fan, no matter what their affiliation. if the OP's point is stupid, then calling him out on it is legit, but i can't see how cannibalizing our own is a good thing. save the hate for the bammers, grinders, etc.

Williams still has a chance of contributing. High character kid out of Slidell High that was more of a track guy than football.Similar story to that of the Ole Miss kid , Ohler , but without the money. They knew how raw he was when they signed him.I personally hope, that before his time is done, he gets a chance to contribute. He really is a good kid.

Armand is 6 3, weight 205, 4.4 40, 62-63 vertical. Had offer from Bobby Petrino, accepted offer. Was offered very late by LSU, committed to LSU because it was his life long dream to play for LSU. Obviously Petrino knows Offensive player talent as well women. Go to Dandy Don today and u can see what the problem is ... Offensive rankings for the past 3 years. Armand is also ahead of schedule to graduate. I am a close personal friend. He has a tremendous work ethic, if cannot develop players like Armand you got issues!!!

well shite, maybe he coulda caught that jump ball to Jacobs vs SC that Mett threw 12 feet in the air.

Not reading the entire thread so don't know if it has been posted yet. I know people close to his situation and what I have been told is that Miles told him he will never play and should leave. If he would like to stay he will honor his scholarship but he will not be on the field..

Lafell got worse? He couldn't catch a cold his first couple of years, but he was solid his last year. Looked like improvement to me.

If true, that would be very disappointing.

From what I understand, Les really likes the kid and just feels he's not up to par in what we need, explaining why we targeted 2 Juco receivers this season. He wants him on the team, but was letting him know his chances of starting are better someplace else.
To clarify, this was last season and Williams is more than happy getting a free ride at LSU and being apart of the team and competing.

You aren't very close friends with him if you think he has a 62 inch vertical.

Probably nicest, most respectful and respected guy on the team (despite his lack of playing time). I don't know about his and Miles' issues/talks about playing time, but out of ANY athlete that has come through the program in my 5 years of ties to the team, I would be most proud to cheer on Armand if he could get on the field.

As for that vertical that was posted, I believe he was speaking in high-jump terms, as in track.
Posted on 1/4/13 at 11:56 am to JaySlidell
His vertical is 42-43. He was the Louisiana High School High Jump champion. Sorry for the mistake ... same principal applies young men with his ablity should be developed. Miles and his offensive staff do not develop their talent. He is a good recruiter ... hard headed and inflexible to a fault.

People making comments on this board about Armand do not have their facts straight.
Armand wants to play ... He is not on a free ride ... he works his butt off everyday.
The offense which Les Miles owns ... has been ranked no higher than the mid 80's for the past 3 years. If you think that is good enough for $4MM a year ... God Bless you ... You got issues!!!

Williams can't catch the ball consistently. Pretty tough to justify playing a WR who can't catch.
Posted on 1/4/13 at 12:43 pm to TxTiger82
Really ??? ... and how would you know that? Have you seen this during the games?
Oh and all our other WR have caught the ball consistently all year? Right?

Lafell, Byrd, Ware(kind of), Hilliard, Tolliver, Scott, Williams, every offensive lineman in the past 4 years besides maybe 2, Beckham, Peterson, and every QB got worse or have gotten worse so far in their careers under Miles.
LaFell- easily got better while at LSU (3rd round draft pick)
Byrd - came in good and left good, sucks about his crash right before the draft otherwise he would've been 3rd rounder many thought
Ware - better now than when he came in
Hilliard - still has 2 years left. Hasn't regressed, just had others getting the touches. (5.7 ypc in 2012). Verdict still out
Tolliver - dropped way too many passes. Never really became the WR we all thought he could be.
Scott - easily got better under Miles. Had 1200 yds his junior year, split time with Keiland and got injured his senior year.
D. Williams - he was scared to get hit and never had a QB that could consistently throw the ball well.
Beckham - good last year, good this year. still has 1-2 more years, too early to tell.
OL - can't remember all the OL that have played here, but I know our OL as a unit was pretty beastly in 2011. I wouldn't say any of those guys walked into LSU that good.
QBs - J. Russell had 2 years under Miles and was better when he left, M. Flynn had 3 years under Miles and was better when he left, J.Lee had 5 years under Miles and was head and shoulders better when he left, JJ plateau'd early in his career and never improved significantly from his Sophomore year, Mett has had 2 years under Miles and the verdict is still out, although I would argue he made progress througout this year, we really need to see how he performs next year to determine if he really got better.
See it isn't as bad as some people think.

Explain all of our offensive line starters at the beginning of 2011 getting worse besides Faulk.
T - Faulk - torn ACL in 2012
T - Hurst - personal issues forced him to quit the team
G - Blackwell - graduated
G - Hebert - graduated
G - Williford - injured prior to SCar game
C - Lonergan - solid all year as he was last year
So of the 6 guys that got regular PT in 2011, 1 left for non-football realted stuff, 2 graduated, 2 got injured early in the season, 1 played well the whole year.
If you are referring to the 2011 season, then I have no clue what you are talking about becasue our OL manhandled everyone except Alabama last year.
