Right. But Anderson would still feel really good about his performance. It worked, though, and now he’ll feel even more confident. And we’re in a great position to not just take the series, but probably even get the sweep on the road.

The last time an mlb pitcher threw 135 pitches in a game was in 2010. It is an outrageous number of pitches, objectively.
Objectively MLB teams have 13 pitchers on each roster and play over 100 more regular season games than college teams. Comparing college arm management and MLB management is apples and oranges.

Let him rip. He showed no signs of fatigue. All this BS spouted by guys that never pitched or coached about load management is stupid.
Until fairly recently this was normal, and athletes now are on the best nutrition, workout, and recovery protocols that have ever existed.
The majority of modern arm damage comes from kids throwing year round at a young age and extreme velocity mechanics. Not because they threw 120 and rested 6 days at 20 years old.

No it’s not lol. College kids especially prospects are managed almost exactly the same.

Never knew we had so many arm care and pitching experts in tRant.

Some people watch more baseball other than just LSU. It’s not a secret that’s a lot of pitches.

What would your pitching plan be given Jay was to hire you when Yeskie leaves? Just give us your resume here, we will send it to Jay for you.

Getting this Friday night win on the road in a 2-0 game in early April may be the difference in top 8 seed and going on the road. The rest is going to be a grind so take every SEC W possible.

I had a college buddy/teammate that was 6’6” 225 his Sr. year. Had a really nice season, but sat about 93/94 and went undrafted. Weird because he got drafted out of high school and JUCO, and the draft was about 176 rounds back then (mid-late 90s).
Anyway, he got picked up by the Cubs. They fixed something with his mechanics, added about 3-4 mph to his fastball, his slider got tighter, they moved him to the pen, and he shot up their system pretty fast. He was as their AAA closer by the end of his 2nd or 3rd season, and was like their #9 overall prospect.
Dude was on a 1st name basis with their big league GM. Talked to him all the time. Was probably gonna make the big league team out of spring training the next year. Boom. Tore his rotator cuff. GM lost his number and forgot his name.
People sometimes forget just how many people play baseball. One guy throws 96/97 and misses a year, we’ll just move up the younger guy who throws 96/97 and hasn’t had his shoulder cut on. Only the really special guys got multiple chances back in the day.
And they didn’t have anywhere near as much money to lose as guys do today. That’s really why high school and college coaches get criticized. Fairly or not.

I believe that if LSU was up 5-0, Kade would have not seen the 9th inning. The game was certainly up for grabs if LSU brought in anyone but Evans.
I would like to see Evans start tomorrow, and throw a gem like Kade.

Perhaps you’re right and I was too confident in my post. My post wasn’t meant to call you out. You seem to know a good bit about baseball. If there is no difference between MLB arm management with playing so many more games, then let me know. It just seems hard to believe they are managed the same way but I’m far from a pitching coach or manager.

Some other SEC coaches recruiting will too. “Yeah, I know they have a bunch of natties, the Yankees of college baseball, but we won’t throw you 135 even if you’re dealing”
LSU’s nattys ain’t gonna put food on the kids table.
“You have special stuff that will play up to the majors and I’m going to showcase your talent but also protect your arm so that you get to your payday” is a much better selling point than “we won a bunch of championships 20+ years ago”

You need to look at how organizations handle kids in the minors because that’s what college baseball is to the mlb organizations. Low A ball.
The a ball manager would be fired tomorrow if he rode a top draft picks arm like that in the minors
