Arkansas pitching

Didn’t they throw their best two pitchers today?? Last time they threw them against us we killed the rest of the pitching staff that weekend

quote:Yes. I've posted this before, but Smith and Hollan combined for 24 starts and 16-3 record. They went back to back against LSU twice (but in opposite order) and won both games against LSU. One was extra innings and second was today.

I'm not super worried about a particular team TBH, what I think we need to get out of the SECT is Floyd having a good start tomorrow and getting arms some action. That could be win/lose tomorrow. We're setting up for Regional.
Yeah last time they tried this against us we nearly 10 run ruled them twice in the 1 day to win the series.
Only have to beat them once now thanks to this dumb SECT format. i get why it's done but its really not fair to the teams in the "drivers seat".
Really looking fwd to pool play when UT/OU join. 4 3 team pools. Top 2 advance to 4 team single elimination bracket. All 12 teams guaranteed 2 games and nobody plays more than 4 games. Should help attendance too... who wants to plan a trip to Hoover when your team might only play 1 game.

Especially a team we more than likely won’t see again unless both teams make the National Championship series.
Yes. They have some good arms left though. Tygart seems to be coming on and has good stuff. They have been resilient as a staff this year. Glad we have the chance to play them again tomorrow. Don't want to wait. Need to take care of business today.

The first two pitches were borderline up and in strikes that Arkansas got all night. The umpire was squeezing Skenes and Cooper but Arkansas got that up and in call all night. Impossible pitches to hit.

And if we do there is no way they burn their best two arms in one game of a three game series.
Interesting that even with them playing "all in" we were one play from winning both games. (base running mistake by Morgan in the first game, Dubious catcher interference in the second) And they are a top 5 team. Hopefully the Tigers are starting to heat up and are ready to make a run. When we play to our potential we are unbeatable.

They went all in. That was like us starting Floyd and relieving him with Skenes.

The more high-end/elite pitching we see before Regionals, the better. I hope we get to Saturday to face Tygart.

That last Paxton Kling at bat versus the Arkansas pitcher was horrible. He could not see one pitch.
I disagree completely. The first two pitches were freaking balls, then he was pressing. Ump did him zero favors.

Ump was squeezing our pitchers all game, the zone was different all game for Skenes then Smith and Holland

The coaches lobbied for the new format. They didn’t want the extra game to burn pitching in a mostly meaningless tournament.
