I believe tomorrow holds the key to the rest of the season. Crunch time, in March!
There's some troubling trends emerging which showed up big time the last two conf games.

Can someone remind me how good of a hitter Skenes is?

Hitting against lefties and finding a back end of the bullpen is very concerning.
There are two things concerning the bullpen that confound me at the moment. The first is what happened to that nasty cutter that made Little so good to start the year? He was throwing his fastball and cutter, and mixing in the curve/slider (whatever he calls that pitch; it looks like it could be either), and was blowing guys away. Now, he seems like he wants to go fastball curve/slider, and I don't recognize a cutter in there anywhere. The curve is hanging right now, and the fastball is rather straight, to me, which is why the cutter would help. Aside from that, he isn't throwing enough strikes to really be able to attack hitters.
The second thing is I don't quite understand the fascination with trying to seemingly force Chase Shores to have a prominent role. Now, today's implosion had very little to do with him, but Ackenhausen, who has been the most consistent reliever all year, has pitched in 1 SEC game so far, while Shores, who is very sketchy with his command, has pitched in two straight very close SEC games. Coach stuck with Shores too long last week and it backfired, and today he is first out of the pen, and we then follow with Little, who's command was already faltering before he had the rough outing on Sunday.
I guess that's a third thing: Why is Ackenhausen getting passed on? This was the game you wanted to use your best to win, because Arkansas doesn't set up terribly well with their pitching after this. Parker Edwards has probably emerged as the number two guy out of the pen now. Didn't see him today either. I know that means they're available today, but I thought the idea was to win the game at hand, and go from there. The bullpen usage is odd to me, right now.

They just haven't been used enough for the coaches to know who to trust when. Its a problem from playing such a weak nonconference schedule and having so many 7 inning games. In preseason they obviously thought Little would be the closer and they want him to take that role. Ack and Edwards have been gaining ground but they didn't want to strip Little of the role after one tough outing vs A&M. However now that its been 3 straight games for Little I think you'll see Edwards or Ack get that opportunity next.
This is where the team has the biggest opportunity to get better by the end of the year. The coaches will learn their bullpen. Remember it's still March. Teams typically don't know what they have until mid-april

We already know our bullpen because it's mostly guys from last season
Hellmers, Dutton, money, Collins, Cooper
Edwards is the only one that's shown improvement the rest - there's a reason why they haven't played too much.
Jay didn't address bullpen like he needed to in the off-season.

You obviously don’t know LSU’s bullpen.

Yeah, but you're just talking about the closer role right there. I'm also wanting to know how a guy like Chase Shores is being brought in before others who have, to this point, outperformed him. I know much is expected of Shores down the line, but his command is currently lacking. As far as Little, aside from a higher strikeout rate, he hasn't outpitched Ackenhousen, even before these last two outings.
I know we would have liked to get some other guys some more work, but there are a handful who got plenty, and it just seems like they are being used, as I said before, in an odd way.

First off Shores was brought in while we were trailing. They didn't want to burn Ack or Little unless it was to preserve a lead which is how most teams handle their closer. Secondly Shores faced the order 1 time. There are very few pitchers on this staff who have been better than Shores one time through the order. Ack and Skenes probably being the only 2

Shores pitched last week with a lead, and yesterday was all of a 1 run deficit. Also, you're only going by Shores' ERA. In terms of WHIP, he hasn't been great even the first time through the order. He's had to escape a lot of trouble.
And once again, you're talking about a closer. Why do you persist on talking about the closer? I didn't say anything about closer, I'm talking about using the best available arms to win a game. If you're going to save all of them for when you have a lead, you're kind of giving up on your team. LSU is going to score runs.

believe he hit home runs last year. This is a stupid argument. He has been terrible this year.
