Exactly. He’s pitching almost opposite of what “the book” on him is. It’s allowing him to get away with mistakes. Great game plan to start off. But his lack of “stuff” can turn 0-0 into 3-0 with the quickness. Gotta have somebody in the pen ready at all times. Can’t wait for him to get in trouble. Have to anticipate it.
No runs through 2 is a great start, though. Do you let him try to get through the 3rd and hand it to somebody else the 2nd time through? That slider isn’t gonna work after they’ve all seen it. Or does Jay get greedy and keep riding him? Will depend on our offense.
