I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss in the post season.

I will bite and explain it to you since you don't seem to understand.
The job of RPI is to take into account the entire season of results. We play in a league with 300 teams were only 64 make the tournament and you only play 10% of the teams. There is no possible way to rank teams and hold a fair postseason without a ranking system like RPI which the committee uses along with other metrics.
Is it perfectly calibrated to select the best team at the end of the year? No, but that is not its job. Its job is to select the teams that play in the tournament.
The tournaments job is to determine a champion, which it did. The tournament doesn't take into account that we got run ruled by a terrible in state team. It shouldn't and doesn't.
But RPI does and it should. Its an imperfect tool for an imperfect problem and none of you mouth breathers that shite on it have any idea what you would propose as an alternative.

The top 7 RPI teams at the end of
May were all awarded top 8 seeds for the tournament. LSU was #10
