On the flip side...playing a strong OOC team will help the strength of schedule....and if you lose,...it's better to lose early.
But we still have the whole SEC West schedule ahead of us. This makes more sense for a team like Boise that doesn't play a hard conference schedule.
LSU got to play in the BCS NCG (and win of course) in 2007 because they opened so well against Va Tech
Usually playing strong teams ooc helps more than it hurts - in general if you aren't good enough to win the ooc game you weren't good enough to win the SEC anyway

So plan your schedule around potential Issues/cheating? That's not how we do here son.

Moot point for a SEC school. If you run the table in the SEC your out of conference schedule will not matter

auburn of 2004 might argue that - although they would have had to play a pretty outstanding ooc slate to overcome the preseason poll bias for OU and USC
and plenty of teams win the SEC but don't run the table - for them presumably a quality 1-2 ooc opponents shows a lot
Someone with more interest than me can fact check this - but isn't UGA of 2005 the only SEC champ in 10 plus years to lose a game against an ooc opponent? That game being a good bowl game against West Virginia of course

Argument for starting a QB that has better decision making abilities....

Well, I think everyone else in the SEC besides LSU has a cupcake for their opener. Most of them do, Iat least.
