A "whole lot"? Not really.

1. stop the conservative coaching/playcalling (with a few extreme exceptions, les is very conservative)

2. get a consistent offense

3. have that consistent offense in a season with a consistent defense

i don't think Miles is a great coach by any stretch. In fact he is probably the 4-5th best coach in the SEC, in my opinion.

His loyalty make be like him even more, but I've always supported him (with minor constructive criticism when needed). If he doesn't get rid of crowton idk how I'll feel though.

For a SlowFlow post, this is raging optimism. So I take it you're elated huh Slow?

I'm VERY happy Les is staying. He brings so much to the table, and it's a lot easier to root for such a decent guy than for, say Bobby Petrino. I personally think Crowton is fine. He was great in '07 and I still insist that his offense hasn't worked over the past three years primarily because of problems at QB. (Although last year the O-line never gelled and thus didn't help the cause much.) I think we got a sense in the Cotton Bowl of what a Crowton offense looks like when it's hitting on all cylinders.

Given his past results, though, (11-2) I would say none of those probably require much more than a minor tweaking (and really, all three are basically the same thing).

I'd argue, he probably only needs to be (and with our talent there's really no reason for him to be anything more than) a little bit less conservative and consistent on offense to get us back on top.

He's a frustrating as hell coach to watch sometimes, though, no doubt and it's funny reading some of these people who seem to be looking at LSU football in a complete vacuum if you believe some of their posts.

This seems to be a constant complaint (and probably not just at LSU), no matter who is calling the plays. I distinctly remember that people didn't like Jimbo Fisher for the same reason. I sometimes wonder if people want a trick play or a long pass on every down.

Do you think that he was just playing Michigan?

I can't understand why someone would go so far down the road and then step away.

Thoughts?

Ambivalent.

The Michigan saga doesn't alter his inherent, fundamental coaching abilities.

Not at all, hes awful, he should have lost at least 4 games this season, and we can go way back and start counting the close wins. He will somehow screw up LSU season next year as they are bound for the ship. If he looses to A$m, all you guys would be feeling completely different.
