The QB sneak is one of the most fumbled plays in football because the exchange is rushed.

It’s customary to run the ball there, with the RB potentially breaking a run & making the FG shorter. Losing yards is rare but it did happen. It’s stupid to question that decision though

That is like saying if we all drive no faster than 8 mph we can eliminate traffic fatalities.

True, but the "risk" isn't really great enough to avoid like that.

Trying to run time down, why risk having time on the clock and having to kick the ball of to them... Remember the time they beat bama from running a field goal back... imagine how pissed we would have been at him if time was left on the clock and they ran the kickoff back and won... Do some of you people just try to find every reason to complain about O... Sound like liberals against trump

Trump, much like this OP, brings it all on himself.

Do you question Malzahn's strategy of having Stidham throw an interception on the second play of the game?

I thought that was bad strategy.

I have been very critical of O since the day he was hired, but this s stupid thread and you should be ashamed.

He handled the end of that drive exactly like he should have. Dont risk a sack or INT, get the ball between the hashmarks and don't leave time for the other team to return a kick.

Paul "Bear" Bryant once said, when a caller questioned a call that Bear had made, what would you have done?
After the caller responded, Bear said, "when you coach your team, do it your way.
Sounds like a great answer.

If that strategy allows us to beat Bama, UGA, etc., then I will take it. The only safer option is a QB kneel down, but that loses yards as well. The QB sneak wouldn't have been a poor idea imo. However, I prefer the handoff to the rb. He has a better chance of actually picking up yards and making the field goal shorter. As for fumbling the exchange...its possible. However, I'm not sure how much more, likey it is than the QB fumbling on a sneak. This type of criticism seems a bit extreme to me.

He ran the ball and you don't want to mess up the hash mark from where you kick either
Auburn knew they were going to run
No need to pass in that situation
Miles probably would have called the last timeout just to ice our own kicker

Obviously not. Questioning running the ball there to center, eat clock, and potentially gain yardage is about the most textbook and safe thing to do in that situation. This thread is the definition of splitting hairs.

I'm pretty sure he was chewing up clock just like any other coach in America would have done.
