re: Are we overly critical of Brandon Harris? Dual Threat vs Pocket Passer?

As others have stated, it isn't DTQBs people have a problem with. It's that we recruit them and then don't let them utilize their DUAL threat capabilities.
Maybe that's why some complain about DTs at lsu...because we continue to run a pro style offense with guys who never stood under center until they got to lsu.
Harris looked bad in shotgun. Just watch the games.
Your post is bullshite.
JJ was a pro style QB that crowton thought he could run a similar offense he would have with RP. It failed and JJ regressed. Crowton was fired.
So RP and Harris are your only DT QBs to start a game under Les Miles.
But our fans like to continue to make shite up.

i don't believe anyone gets a pass. BH has missed on throws, as did Mettenberger. But the extent of BH downs have been overly played. The numbers clearly prove it. I agree that as of late, if mett is constantly used as the "gold standard", then this kid is not far off the mark.

Oh and one more thing. LSU did not lose to UF in 2013.
Your post is shite

Just because youre in the shotgun, doesnt men you are spreading the field. Hell, you could run wing-t out of the shotgun, see how far that gets you.
If you read a little slower, I write, 4 of the last 8 SEC championships have been won by dual threat QBs. Furthermore, Its not about how many DT-QB have started under Miles. The question is what does it take to win a national championship? And how many nattys have we won with a Miles recruited QBs (Jimbo recruited Matt Flynn)? Not making up anything. Pointing to the fact that this kid is on track to do well. And if we run a true spread (4 and 5 WR sets) as opposed a shotgun with a tightend or H-back, he has an even greater chance of thriving.

Did Harris operate under center when he was in high school? Serious question. Not sure why my post is shite to you. I didn't say Harris was better in shotgun.
And who brought up jj? I was thinking of Jennings with my post.

I watched Harris in HS. He ran A LOT of I-Formation under center. A TON. Their bread and butter was a play action fake to the tailback from under center, and seam route to a tight-end going back side. They still run it. Still system needs to fit your QB.

Hey bruh, leave Jesus out of this. It's the "Rant". It's the offseason. Better than post about LSU man caves. Lol. Just joking

Yea you can say numbers look similar all day, but like you mentioned about identity issues, Mett did not have the caliber of team Harris does. He did more with less, and I count the overall team.
OBJ, Hill, and Juice are all starters in the NFL. WTF are you talking about moron?

I agree BH has the better mobility obviously. Maybe I wasn't clear, I trust Mett more with converting first downs with his arm, especially with the short pass. He's a more balanced thrower. But yes, I hated how stiff he was in the pocket too.

Who's not behind him? Just because some are concerned doesn't mean we're not hoping he does great. Doubt=\=hate.

I just believe that if the staff really turns this kid loose, he can be special. Hell Manziel ran around like he was crazy at times, but he made plays. In 2016, with a healthy BH, I'm hoping to see his complete game. One where we make people account for all of his skills

So anyone who has any questions about any players at all coming into this season is not supporting the team and wants them all to fail?
So dumb.

I fully agree. That's kind of the basis of college QBs isn't it? That's why I've loved BH's skillset ever since he was a freshman. He has that big arm and second gear speed that is really the mark of an exciting college QB. But I don't know the situation enough to assume the coaching is limiting him.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 11:36 pm to beantown
quote:As of yet, BH has shown absolutely no efficiency or effectiveness in the short and medium range passing game. Doesn't matter how strong his arm is, if you can't hit those shorter routes. That's the entire season right there in a nut shell.................

I'm responding to they never line up under center in hs. Miles square peg round hole. Yet when they did spread the ball out, when they did roll Harris out, same problem. He throws high.
Harris did not take every snap under center. Sane result.
So yeah, I'm going to say that not only does the play calling need to be more balanced, Harris has to make the plays in order for it to be balanced.

People are saying JJ was a dt QB running a pro style offense. That is not accurate.
Why does it matter if he never lined up under center in HS? which is another bullshite fallacy.

That's why the post is bs. You actually made shite up.

Short game? What short game? I watch the 2015 bowl game. Everything is a post or a go. I see three routes - all plus 20 yds. From a playing calling standpoint, I'm not seeing a bunch of short range plays. I'm seeing 15 yard outs, 20 yd come backs, post, and go routes. Play action to LF and then deep. What is made up, is the notion that a guy with his skill set can't complete a 10 yd pass. What's bull shite is dumb azz post like yours advancing dumb as ideas.
Btw thanks for continuing to contribute to this dumb azz thread...
