Do alot of people on here really think this will be no contest or are you assuming the Hat will pull one out of his arse as usual?

Honestly Oregon offense scares the shite out of me..and I'm not ready to hand Jefferson a heisman just yet..

I think it is going to be a closer game than people believe. I do however think our defense will contain them more than they are used to and our OL will open the air and ground game in the second half. But no disrespect. Just healthy arrogance.

The Big East is worse and WVU gave you all you could handle at home.

I think their O is not as good as our D.

And I don't think they have an SEC caliber D.

Anything could happen. But not with this much time to scheme it.

FWIW these guys know how to prepare for a big game, especially the first of the season(yeah I know they lost to BS), but I think they have a HUGE chip on their shoulder from losing to Auburn last year.

I am expecting a solid LSU win, and this is not in any way disrespecting Oregon. I think Oregon is deservedly a top 10 team, but I think LSU's offense is going to be better than most expect (largely due to the fact that our OL is filled with veterans that have played together a lot). Oregon on the other hand has a newly constructed OL which hasn't had a lot of playing time together. This I think will severely limit what they can accomplish on offense. As Oregon is unaccustomed to this they will attempt to open it up, which will lead to turnovers. So while Oregon is deservedly a top 10 team, I don't expect them to come out of the gate as one. This is really a good situation for LSU, because after getting their asses handed to them by LSU, Oregon could sweep the PAC-12, making us look really, really good.

Sucks? This is the lie of all lies that just pisses me off. Well, this Sucky Conference as you call it has owned the SEC this last Century Dumb arse when they actually play head to head on a game field. So if the PAC sucks, then that means you are one step lower then Sucking:

Matchup ______________ winner---Result---Spread on game

2010 #7 Oregon @ Tenn __ Oregon,- 48-13 Oregon by 10.5
2011 #2 Oregon vs #1 Auburn AU,___22-19 Auburn by 1.5

From the Modern Football Era(the BCS)the PAC has won 12 vs 10 SEC.
The SEC was favored to win 12 of those games but only won 10.
Also one can see the PAC is 14-7-1 against the spread vs the SEC.

In truth the Conferences are as follows, from any guy that really watches them all a lot:

1)SEC(but only by a very slim margin over #2)
2)PAC-12
3)Big Ten(+ 2)(because they cannot count)
4)Big 12(- 2) (because they cannot count)
5)MWC
6)WAC(has always been this way for a while but soon will drop below Conference USA with their best teams leaving
7)ACC(might make a resurgence, time will tell)
8)Big Least
9)Conference USA
10)The rest...

Another way to put this is that it takes a number of games for teams to get up to speed. The defenses usually get going pretty quickly, but the offenses can vary. LSU doesn't have too much to replace on offense and the OL is mostly in tact. They will be ahead of the curve. Oregon had too much changeover on the OL so they will be out of sync and behind that curve. And this will only be exacerbated by their hurry-up.

So, if they met week 4, I be calling LSU by 3 and I'd be nervous. In week 1, I'm not worried and I expect LSU to win by close to 20 (I'll say 17).

I wouldn't call the line newly constructed. Weems started 7 including the Tennessee, Stanford and Auburn games. York and Asper have started for the past two seasons. It's certainly up for debate how limited they will be.

Oregon's playbook is actually very simple but executed well. Darron threw very few ints and will have experience in big games...cool cucumber. I don't see many turnovers.

Back to the oline, I think Clanton may be our best overall talent. The two new peices will give us a lift athletically and strength wise.

I think you are slightly over-rating the PAC-12 and very much underestimating the ACC. They get a bad rap because they are light at the top, but on average they are pretty solid. ...And the only reason the Big X beats the Big 12 is because they added Nebraska.

I think they'll be solid, but they won't have had enough experience playing as a unit to gel. As I said, if it weren't game 1, I wouldn't be nearly as confident.
