Are they really back while losing 8 starters on defense?

Lots of hype for a team that lost major starters on both sides of the ball. Is this just fake sports news because it's texas?

Herman, the coach who cucked LSU, vs O, the coach who cucked LSU, is a spicy topic

The media wants Texas to be back so they are hyping them up. At the same time the 8 new starters won't be scrubs. Many of them were highly recruited. This year's Texas team may be green, but they are talented.

Georgia win was overhyped. I think Texas still has a capable team but we are faster and stronger overall.

They could be back, but idk... losing that much production is hard to recover from, BUT they have recruited well to fill some holes. LSU plays at Texas, with a new offense, and early in the season. I say we beat them, but man it's gonna be a good game.

Texas' young defense versus LSU's putrid offense is a seemingly even matchup.

The real test will be LSU's defense against Texas' offense and I like LSU bigly in that matchup.

It's a road game vs at the least a decent opponent. We should win but it's going to be tough sledding, no two ways about it. Can't complain about missed calls or home cooking and have the entire team go off the rails.

The fact that you used the word cucked twice in one sentence tells me a lot about you.

The advanced stat sites dont like Texas nearly as much as the opinionated polls/people do.

When you have to replace so much and haven't established yourself like an Alabama, you shouldn't be getting the benefit of the doubt.

Texas had 4 players make it onto the Pre-Season All American team:

Sam Elhinger - QB - 3rd Team
Collin Johnson - WR - 4th Team
Zach Shackelford - C - 2nd Team
Caden Sterns - S - 4th Team

LSU had 2 players make it:

Grant Delpit - S - 1st Team
Kristian Fulton - CB - 2nd Team

So they definitely have talent on the team, and despite what most posters here will say Tom Herman is a good coach. The bulk of people here were ecstatic he was going to be our coach, then when he wasn't he all of a sudden was subpar lol.

That being said, LSU is far more experienced and a better team, talent wise. It being in Austin is going to be a challenge, but not one that LSU can't overcome.

Texas played ONE Top 50 Defense last year “UGA”. LSU played 9 Top 50 Defenses, including UGA.......

Putrid is a strong word when comparing the level of defensive talent LSU plays weekly VS what Texas is used to seeing......

Their defense sucked about as bad as our offense. Their total defensive ranking last year was 67th. LSU's total offensive ranking was 68th.

I don't know a ton about UT's roster and recruiting, but I know that they had a lot less talent when Herman took over UT vs when Coach O took over LSU. It's been a few years now, and Herman now has a roster that is mostly his players. It's my belief that while the new starters won't be experienced, they will be more talented than their counterparts from last year.

Texas has had top 3 recruiting classes the last 2 years. Their replacements for what they lost are probably very good. And they return their QB who beat Oklahoma and UGA. And the game is in Austin.

If you recruit well, you lessen the blow of lost players.

Sorry folks, but this game will not be easy.

GLAD we get them early in week 2. Come out fast, and don't let up for 4 quarters. Keep their QB bottled up, don't let him extend plays or make plays with his feet. Chaisson will have a game under his belt to get his game-legs and wind back; he, MD, and company need to be in the TX backfield all game.
