Obviously, the AD will not want to cut into profit and if it's expense base grows due to new coach, are season ticket holders ok with increases in TAF tradition fees/season ticket prices in order to keep the AD at the same level of profitability?

It's always a fascinating question because I'm guessing people will say ok right now, but when the increase comes through, people will bitch and moan.

This will happen.

Miles was making $4.3 Million which made some fans melt over for some weird reason, while coaches in the same division are at $5mill+.

A hotshot hire will be $6mill+ and staff money. There will be increases.

Not everyone will want the same guy. So yes, people will say yes right now. And yes people will complain when fees go up because they didn't hire their #1 choice.

The boosters wanted Miles out. They will (and should) fund the full buyout, so the AD should not have to finance that. The salary of a new HC will be more than what we were paying Miles, but I would guess that the support salaries will also go down. Miles overpayed his staff for what we got. Despite the precedent, all those contracts are null & void thanks to the Les clause in them & will need to be renegotiated.

Are price increases coming? Probably. Will they be prohibitive? Doubtful. No one who is paying for season tickets today will see the increase come in for 2017 & say "I can't afford THAT!" and drop their tickets. Will they bitch? Yes. Will they bail out? No.

Lets be honest:

The season ticket holders are Joe and Cindy from Ponchatoula anymore.

A lot more of the season ticket holders are companies that give the tickets to customers. Due to this, if they pay $650 a ticket or $800 they really don't care.

I will bitch. And then I will pay.

Hell, I sent in additional money last Dec with comments in the box on the TAF site saying to put it specifically in the "Les Miles buyout fund", which obviously wasn't a real thing (at least officially on the TAF site).

I would go for it if the AD would stop the insanity of giving money to LSU's general fund. It is simply the legislature underfunding the school and then extorting additional tax money from athletic donors. Stop that practice and you have the majority of the salary of the head coach paid. You also do not have to squeeze the donors for more $$$ if you have that additional money in the budget.

Can't understand why they don't sell beer in the stadium already. They can't say its because they don't want to have obnoxious drunks in the stadium because its not like there isn't already some people coming into the stadium hammered from their tailgate. With all the money they'd make from beer sales, they can afford a few extra security workers to remove those who can't handle their alcohol and get obnoxious or sloppy drunk.

If they sold 100,000 beers per home game, thats easily $4+ million a year in extra profit.

The bulk of that money sent to the academic side is to pay for the scholarships that all the players (in all sports) get. Yes, in several years past, there has been a transfer above & beyond, but the AD is not fully funding the academic side of the school any more than the parent of little Johnny Freshman is by paying his tuition.

But remember that without the school, there are no sports. So while you can see it as extortion on the part of the legislature, it's effective extortion because if the school closes, LSU sports disappear.

Will I pay an increase in tradition fund--No. CPM got a $400,000 pay raise and did not go to Omaha, AD, Joe A, got a nice raise, women's baseball coach will probably never win an SEC championship is making around $1 million. Do something and then get a raise!
