I understand modern mechanics put a high emphasis on velocity, but I've got a hard time believing Butler can run out 4 straight guys hitting at least 92.

Everyone is throwing harder these days. Idk if it’s mechanics or what, but it’s real.

Just like every other sport, the game has advanced thanks to technology allowing for better understanding of mechanics, the human body, etc.

They have high schools in south Louisiana that can do this

I've heard that they are picking the ball up right out of the pitcher's hands these days, where as the old school guns didn't. That's what I've heard anyway.

Not exactly sure when that transition took place.

Callin’ bullshite on any high school in Louisiana having four pitchers that touch 92. Maybe 2…

What he’s saying is that high school kids hit 90+ now. It’s not uncommon.

We have an 8th grade commit that hit 85 this year.

This apparently it makes a very significant difference. Read somewhere that Nolan Ryan would have averaged 104 with the method used today

I know but he said there are high schools in south Louisiana with 4 pitchers sitting in low 90s. I guess Barbe, or some other power, but it just seems unlikely.

And yes I know kids can run it up there. Pretty sure I threw harder at 16 than I did at 21.

May be true, but four years ago we had maybe one guy that could break 94.

Crazy how much different this roster is in two years.

The pitching coach CJJ brought in is obviously THE MAN. Great hire.

You said there are high schools in south Louisiana with four guys that sit at 92. That’s what I called bs on.

Good high school pitchers have always been able to touch 90+ but I’ve yet to see a Louisiana team with 4 guys at 92+.

That’s all I’m saying.

15 years ago I sat around 84 and got up to 88 once with self-taught mechanics. Granted I was 6-2 170 and lanky as they come. Pretty sure if I were getting coached up the way these kids are, I could've hit 90+ my senior year.

My 15 year old nephew will be touching 80 soon which is just stupid.

Don't be that guy. You know that data is not easily accessed. You also know the point he's trying to make.

Personally I do believe the guns are hotter than they used to be. But I also believe pitchers have access to better nutrition and coaching. So velocities are higher in general, then you get on these guns and it bumps them up.
