Just as a point of interest, that Santa Barbara team (The Foresters, who have won a few national championships), and used to have Conan Horton as a coach. It is a powerhouse summer league team.

Wasn't there speculation he would move on?

He was our lifesaver this year. If it wasn't for him, LSU is not hosting a regional or even making one for that matter. The players love him and think very highly of him.

If we have another poor hitting season and don't make it to Omaha, then it'll be time for Paul to go.

Arby Fields offered a place on next year's team per Mainieri
I personally would tell PM to kiss my arse if I was Arby!

Arby Fields sucks bro. He would be " fortunate" to be invited back to LSU to clean bats the rest of his career

We need one of two things in 2013 regarding Arby

Either an amazing increase in his baseball skills or a greatly diminished role.

He was a liability in 2012.

The only thing we should need from Arby is for him to contribute on special teams.

He hit well for about 2 weeks and then went to complete shite. He was really awful at the plate. I don't mind him coming back for depth, but I'd hate to see him in the starting lineup again.

You can't defend him. He was the biggest weak spot in a weak hitting team

Mainieri said he chose not to renew the scholarship of freshman RHP Carson Baranik, who was suspended for three weeks after being arrested on suspicion of DUI shortly before the season started.

This was such bullshite, PM is a assclown. Strung the kid along, even told his parents that he would retain his scolly in a face to face meeting.

Arby needs to weigh his options first. I suspect, other than playing at a smaller school, he's not going to be on many short lists as a must get addition to a roster.

I think everyone agrees that Scambria was much better than FosterFields.

Was that before or after Baranik stopped doing what Dunn told him to do?

So we're going to suck at the plate again in 2013. Just clearing that up for everyone

note I wanted a new hitting coach, but paul's thought process could be that this team had a good year, and played well all season then just slumped right at the end. He may want to keep his staff in tack after a good year and not change what worked for him this season .

remember we went from being jipped from the post season to being 1 game from omaha as a 7 seed.

that is a HUGE improvement.
