But until we get those type DL's once again, we need to get back to taking more risks on D and sending more after the QB on those 3rd and longs, which we did in the 2nd half. Maybe it is more risky but if you give a QB like Trask and WR's like that any time, they are going to make the play. Might have been caught a little off guard by just how good Trask is and took a little time to adjust to it.

lets see how a healthy defense, for really only the second game, does this week. I realize it is miss state but may take some time to get used to playing together and find the scheme that works best for that opponent. Aranda has been feeling things out without his full complement of players. Hard to be on field for 80 plus plays players starters all game.

Just in case the few times I respond to this type of post, everyone that argues for or against doesn't bring up DBs.
We are not deep with experienced backups.
Just in January we had WR playing in the bowl game.

I think the second half worked out. Adjustments.
we gave up 205 yards in the second half. Three 70+ yard drives. What saved us was the INT in the end zone, and the goal line stand.

Also recall that in UF's first drive of the 3rd quarter, just after Aranda's halftime adjustments, we gave up an 8-play, 75 yard drive for a TD.

A few big plays saved us in the second half, but it's incorrect that we shut them down. We didn't.

injuries are an excuse. Every team in the country has to deal with injuries. And every football coach knows injuries WILL occur, so they have to prepare their team knowing injuries will take away some starters.

LSU’s real problem is with 3rd and long on defense, this needs to be fixed, why is it so complicated? Anyone?

We don't have a consistent pass rush from the DL and consistently blitzing on 3rd down leave you exposed.

Defending 3rd and long you can add one blitz man, so you know the ball will have to come out quick, Fla killed LSU with screen passes they should have known were coming.

Linebackers are lost in coverage, safeties have been disappointing.

Pass coverage across the middle is really poor.

Thanks for seeing through the smoke and mirrors, or bullshite sales job. Fix the defense before it f##ks LSU!

I think this is a lot of it, I know I was shocked at his poise and accuracy.

I would like to see our D perform better, but I also think that the return of Logan and Lawrence will greatly help. Farrel and Thomas have done well and with Shelvin and Ika getting better and better it could be the fix we need.

Gotta understand that the vast majority of the Aranda haters were all posters who refused to lay any blame at the previous offenses feet because those coaches had to be protected at all cost. A lot of this is a petty revenge narrative started by people who are so sick in the head that they hate Aranda for carrying this team the past 3 seasons. They also want a fall guy to blame in case we don’t make it this season. Thats the kind of people were dealing with here.

You're spot on. They now see an opportunity to criticize the one coach that the "negatigers" thought was carrying his weight and they're pouring it on.

Offense and Defense now are so high tech and scientific. There is a staff on both sides watching everything, and how everyone reacts to it. Live, up-to-the-last-play stats. Don't look at Bama, shutting out D2-level teams and think Aranda has to skunk teams like Florida. Florida, with Coach Mullen calling plays will be hard as hell for anyone to stop. Aranda got them figured out by the third quarter, and that was fast enough for LSU to win by 2 TDs. I'm good with that.

Should have had another couple of INTs or at least a batted down pass on 4th down. Pass D is less than stellar, but I think it is now part of the game and of course the BS non-calls and BS calls always affect the outcome.

Bullshite Sherlock! The only motivation for speaking out is we don’t want this to cost LSU a national title, when LSU is in such great position to win one. Stop imagining any other motives.

Aranda needs to stop behaving like a vagina and gamble more, show college football fans your damn balls! LSU certainly has the defense to recover for any mistakes.

You need players to be an elite defense. No DC can pitch shutouts and be the number 1 defense in the country without great players. Be thankful he’s doing enough to beat two top 10 teams with what we have out there

Too bad Aranda doesn't have great players to work with:

Tyler Shelvin - 4 Stars
Rashard Lawrence - 4 Stars
Glen Logan - 4 Stars
K'Lavon Chaisson - 5 Stars
Patrick Queen - 4 Stars
Michael Divinity - 4 Stars
Jacob Phillips - 4 Stars
Kristian Fulton - 5 Stars
Derek Stingley - 5 Stars
Grant Delpit - 4 Stars
Jacoby Stevens - 5 Stars

I've said it before, I feel like Aranda thought Trask and Ehlinger were going to throw the game away, and decided were better challenging them to throw into coverage than pressuring them and giving up big plays.

Neither did. They both played very well.

I am hoping we stop thinking its this is a good idea, and get after the QB. WE are a lot better when we do.

I sure would love to know Aranda’s thinking, because we’re all guessing at this point, what we do know is LSU’s defense sucks on 3rd and long.
