I think he wants to be HC here one day.
Nothing was going to sway Herman away from UT. The only reason he listened was Strong had not been fired yet. His heart was where he got his first taste of coaching as a GA under Mack Brown.
Aranda was a GA at LSU. I'm connecting the dots here.

So if a guy, who has never proven to be a good head coach, fails - you want our next coach to be... a guy with zero head coaching experience???
Good lord, man. It's actually ok to hire a guy that doesn't already wear purple and gold. It's ok to do that.
So it's OK to hire a guy that doesn't already wear purple and gold but there is a rule against hiring a guy with no head coaching experience? Here's some groundbreaking news. Every college head coach in America at this moment was at one time hired with zero head coaching experience. So was the winningest coach in LSU history.

This has Texas written all over it. He's waiting to hear what the horns will offer.

Any contract can be bought out. Hopefully it is his way of showing his commitment.
unlike tom herman, it appears dave aranda is a man of his word. I like the guy.
also, I think he really likes coach and I've HEARD (no proof) that aranda committed to staying IF coach O got the job.

At least we know our dumpster fire will probably have a good defense.
in other words, the same as it's been since 2011 (except 2013 when the D was a dumpster fire).

If he really wants to be an NFL DC, he's in a great spot where he is. Pro-style talent, coaches, and schemes, and a high-pressure environment: SEC stands alone in that regard.
Besides, if he keeps slaying at LSU and is determined to become an NFL DC sooner rather than later...I'm sure the folks right down the road would love to talk to him when the time is right.
