His X and O prowess makes up for any lack of recruiting

I'm sure he's not a bad one. He doesn't seem to have a personality that is amazing with kids and parents (although I have no clue...just how he comes off the few times I've seen him do interviews).

However, when you can say, "Why dont you come play for LSU? Im the best teacher of defense in the nation, and I will make you a millionaire."

Don't need much personality when you can back up those claims.

If O stumbles and messes up the next two seasons he should be our guy.

He's okay, but he is not the most outgoing guy. However, his reputation does speak louder than his words.

Aranda hates the lime light. He will never be a head coach. In fact, he says that when he grows up he wants to be just like coach Ensminger, another coach who avoids the lime light like the plague.

I have no idea. As others have said he seems to be an introvert who wouldn't be inclined towards being a natural recruiter.

But whether you love or hate Coach O his reputation is as a great recruiter, which makes one wonder if part of Aranda staying with Coach O might be so he can learn from him? So surely as time goes by he's becoming a better recruiter...

He pulled Tyler Taylor, had pulled Monty Rice until UGA flipped him late. Had Markaviest Bryant until he changed his mind on signing day. These were all people he got in latenafter losing Allen and Moses.

He isn’t the outgoing used car salesmen type of recruiter but his knowledge and coaching ability come through and players want to learn from him.

There is a lot more to recruiting than the charisma aspect. Give Aranda 30 minutes with a recruit to show the recruit how he will be used...SOLD.

But, he's a teacher that excels one on one. When he sits down with a recruit and parent and gives a no nonsense assessment on how he can develop a kid into a better player and make him successful and send him to the NFL that is more valuable then salesman BS. The kids/parents that appreciate this approach are likely the ones you want anyway.

why?

Head coach and coordinator are COMPLETELY different jobs. Sure, new head coaches usually are coordinators (usually), but not every coordinator is cut out for head coaching jobs. There's so much more to running a program than just running the defense.

Given what I know about Aranda's personality (which is little, I admit), he doesn't seem the type to be a head coach.

And we certainly shouldn't let him cut his teeth here.

He made duke Riley a 3rd pick. That’s all he gotta say to recruits.

I imagine he's referencing an ESPN interview where Aranda stated he wanted to be a coach like Ensminger when he gets older.
