Are there any bars or anything near Rice's arena to drink at before/after?

there are a bunch of bars and clubs but they are absurdly expensive. I'm not sure on like sports bars but all the bars I've been to down there are college bars.

Yeah, that $0.95 draft beer at the on campus pub (Valhalla) is pretty rich!

I'm sure you were talking about Ruce Village. Those places (Gingerman, Brian O'Neill's, Volcano, etc.) are only as expensive as you make them.

What? That's silly.

There is a bar on campus...Valhalla...very cheap, but you have to be around Rice grad students.

There are bars in the Village just down University....Little Woodrow's and The Gingerman are the two best.

A little further down Kirby, off Bissonnet, you have Kay's, Marquis, Volcano. Armadillo Palace can be fun as well, it's right off Kirby, look for the giant chrome armadillo. If the weather is nice Hans Bierhaus is an ok place if you want to play a game of bocce and day drink.

There are plenty of places in Midtown, but Front Porch Pub, Saint Dane's, and Little Woodrow's are the most tolerable.

Stay away from Wash Ave...unless you do roids or secretly wish your roommate/best friend would cram his dick in your arse.

We were planning to go until they lost to Nicholls, CC and had to go to overtime to beat McNeese. It is tough to trash talk after all that.

Strip clubs in Houston are BYOB! Grab a cooler, fill it up, head to the Crazy Horse buddy! You can drink and look at naked women!

offshoreangler pretty much nailed it. Rice is in a nice part of town with good haunts and (mostly) good people. The Gallant Knight is another spot nearby with a big patio and live "wedding" type bands on the weekends.

Avoid Washington unless you wear affliction tees and are an aficionado of hair gel and rohypnol...
