Not mad at all. He did what head coaches are supposed to do, for the sake of the whole team and for LSU's reputation. As great a player as TM7 was, he was not bigger than LSU. No player is, or should be, no matter how good. And if the team rules are no drugs, then that means no drugs for everybody. And it sounds as if TM was given every chance to clean up his act, but didn't. Ego or sheer dumbness? I don't know. But it's sad for him and for all us who were looking forward to seeing him out there this season.

However, I do not fault Coach Miles, I salute his courage and integrity. Unlike JoePa, he didn't just look the other way when something went wrong.

I'm pissed at Les! I'm also pissed at Abita for getting me drunk and causing problems. In addition, I'm pissed at buffets for making people fat. I would also like to add that I am angry at skyscrapers for killing amateur Muslim airline pilots.

Just a few minutes ago ESPN said LSU fasn were pissed at Miles for releasing TM.

ESPN imitating NBC News. Wanting to report what they want it to be. To hell with objective reporting.

I'm not mad at him. In fact, I respect him even more.

I thought I heard ESPN say that folks in BR felt that Les cost the Tigers a chance at a Natty, but I wasn't sure if they were referencing the 1/9 game or not. Either way, it was a head scratcher of a segment.

Herbie said this was a huge blow to the program and that his absence will be widely felt on the team. I laughed and turned the channel. Getting LSU news from anywhere else than TD is useless.

But Herbie then gave a lot of credit to CLM by taking this action that "very few college football coaches today would have done". Any harm that TM has done to LSU's rep is greatly outweighed by the positive pub CLM is getting for us.

I want to see the ESPN link to their poll where people claim to be pissed.

Mad? I'm glad to see someone take a stand on something. TM7 did this to himself. You can bet they have done everything they could to help this kid stay straight.

Was anyone mad at Les about this? Or do you understand his hands were tied and he had to do it?

It was University policy as I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but in my understanding of the context it was not Les's decision. It was a mandated school rule (not a Les Miles rule) that if you fail 3 drug tests you are out...case closed.

He said he agreed with it, but whether he would have imposed the same consequences were his hands not tied, we'll probably never really know.

Not mad at Miles at all. Proud of him.

Sad for Tyrann. Disappointed in the lost potential for him and his family. But for the LSU family...

I know it's not a good time to say anything about Penn State but.... LSU and Les Miles have proven loudly and clearly that OUR rules mean something and that we have the integrity to do what is required. And without regard to the possible impact on the football team. I agree with many posters here that say various other coaches would not be so inclined and that is unfortunate.

This was a school decision. Les had no choice. Not mad at Les.

Just my opinion -- this was an academic institution decision and not an athletic decision.

Not mad at LSU or Les, whichever way it went down.

As an old who has been around a lot longer than 99% of you youngsters I can tell you that almost every football program in America has had their share of similar crap at least since the early 50s. Maybe not marijuana but getting drunk, stealing test, turning over cars, breaking windows, etc., etc., etc., and up until the media got into the 'gotcha, I'm Woodward and Bernstein and I'm gonna break some big news ahead of everyone else' routine, this stuff was overlooked and brushed under the rug. Especially in college towns who had a friendly press.

Nowadays, there is a camera in every phone, a camera at every redlight, someone waiting to "Rodney King" you and no one can afford to cover up anything anymore, not saying they should.

This still happens everywhere, some choose to cover it up and hope they don't get caught (Ohio State); some choose to take the high road when all efforts have failed (LSU).

I still think RP should have been given another chance for his minor infractions (sneaking onto gambling boat with fake ID, cmon.) and if TM released for smoking this is not a cause for release either IMO ,but he did break the rules so I can't be mad at CLM. These guys stood to make millions in NFL if only would stay straight for a while!

The stuff that used to happen was the stuff that legends were made of. It was very difficult to get caught then. I'm very familiar with that part of it..... You can't sneeze today without the planet knowing about it.

Let's face it, LSU and all other programs are running a behavioral clinic AND a football team. Having rules and sticking to them is the only way to survive and have any semblance of order. Congratulations LSU and Coach Les Miles !!!!!

Its is the cover up that kills a program and a coach. No one player is worth that. Selfishly speaking, I am not letting any kid screw up my 3.8 million dollar job.
