Is there anyone here who has been to games like Ohio St vs Michigan, USC vs UCLA, Washington vs Oregon, Texas vs Oklahoma, or Notre Dame vs USC when both teams were ranked, and can give an honest comparison of the game atmosphere?

Also, we could probably learn from other schools, but that probably belongs in a different thread.

Been to both Michigan's and Penn State's stadium....both loud as frick and impressive in terms of fan support. Have heard OSU is as well.

I've been to both Autzen and Husky Stadium. Autzen is incredibly loud. Husky Stadium has a nice atmosphere as well. I've also been to several USC vs. UCLA games. Neither the Rose Bowl nor the Coliseum stand up to most of the SEC stadiums that I have visited as far as noise is concerned. The Rose Bowl is gorgeous but it can be underwhelming if UCLA stinks.

Outside of the SEC, the Big 10 probably stands out; OSt, Penn St & Mich, not necessarily in that order. TX can pretty loud when they are winning in the Big 12, along a with OK. Love the PAC 10 fans as WashSt. Stanford & Or are ok, as are FlSt & Clemson (should have been the SEC choice) in the ACC. Gotta put Army & Navy on the list, especially when they play each other.

In my journey, I have been fortunate enough to do all the above, but when the Tiger fans are really into it, nothing comes close IMO.

White out!

The Big House underwhelmed me. I've been to several ND games. Mediocre. I've been in The Shoe for a lackluster OOC bloodbath. Borinh. I'll likely be back for the OSU-UM game this year.

Nowhere I have been compares to DV on a Saturday night. Moreover, tailgating in other conferences isn't even in the same universe as DV.

I have been to Texas and Washington. Neither have an atmosphere that comes close to comparing to LSU for a big game.

Yep. All the talk about OSU/MICH and the tailgate is a bunch of people standing in groups of 10 only talking to each other.

I read somewhere that Autzen was very loud, especially when you consider it has a capacity of 54,000.

I also wish I could see that one because it's in a park.

I’ve never been to one of the big rivalry games but I have been to games at Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Sparty, Colorado and Stanford.

All were a fun time, but Happy Valley stands out in terms of atmosphere both inside and outside the stadium. Tailgating is easily the closest to SEC and the stadium is loud as frick and rowdy. Ridiculous atmosphere in there for a ranked game. I’d actually say it’s top 5, possibly even 3 among stadiums I’ve been too.

For context I’ve been to 8 in the SEC and LSU, Auburn, and Georgia are my favorites. I’m biased, but LSU is its own animal for a big game. Nothing matches up. I’d love to go to Auzten, the LA Coliseum or the Horseshoe one day to compare.
