yeah it was waaay freaking low. He came over the suites, and dropped down into the "ring" of the stadium and then had to pull up when he got to the scoreboard. It was pretty awesome!
Thank you Tommy LaSorda.

I was going to say 80 feet max. 800ft? Seriously thats very high. We could feel the wind in 09. Maybe 35 feet from the roof.

I'm going to say he was about 100 feet off the deck, max. He flew right over us in RF, and just cleared the light standard. He then picked up altitude as he approached Tiger Stadium and turned south. Not being sure exactly what was going on, I watched him for a while.

The BTR control tower was not in communication with this helo. It sounds like he violated the FARs by flying over a crowd below 1000' without a waiver.

In this digital age how is there no picture or video of this.

Cause it was really that fast. I don't think it was there for a few seconds much less long enough to get a video or pic
Plus it was dark as crap. Even if you could get a shot of it, the pic/vid wouldn't have been very good.

My aircraft ID skills are a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure it was an Army Blackhawk. It was OD green w/ a flat bottom and a low landing gear profile...which fits the bill.

We had one of our fellow air traffic controllers there who texted us and asked if we were working the blackhawk that just buzzed the Box, so your a/c ID is probably correct.

I JUST came here to say the same thing

TWO low military flyovers with different aircraft in two days? What's up?

And BTW that C-130 was huge. Idk if it was how low it was that made it look that big or what, because I've never seen one in person.

response from Bill Franques regarding the flyover:

To my knowledge, that was pure coincidence. We were all pretty surprised as well.

Best Wishes,
Bill

Hmmm... Odd. Sounds like someone doing it for shits and giggles indeed. Obviously he is in some serious shite now if he didn't have a waiver and wasn't in contact with ATC. I'd really love to get a story on whoever did it. They were obviously just fricking around from all the accounts posted on here.

Why would a military aircraft need atc permission. Seems like that would screw any undercover missions.
