Anybody else miss Les Miles?
But I know that it was time for a change. But like I mentioned in my first sentence, I miss him knowing what we have going on now. The fact that Les had these same coaches on his squad when he was here is literally what is frustrating. We wanted a change and Alleva goes, “oh well we are alright with what we got.”
With that said, I have Ed’s back until I see further evidence to not have his back. I will never hate on a coach that hasnt had time to prove himself. And Ill eat crow if he blows it this upcoming year. Its just sad that Alleva not only got lazy on hiring a serious head coach, but he didnt even attempt to find an OC.

Remind me, who was so willing to come to LSU that was such a great coach and deal with the shitass fan base that hates LSU more than other teams and deal with this AD/administration? Herman used us as his little bitch to get more money from Texas and was never coming here. Jimbo knew the terrible environment here (unreasonable expectation of fans and horrible administration). LSU could never compete with TX or A&M money.
If I were recruiting against LSU for any top prospect in the country I would simply show them the Rant and the recruitment would be signed sealed and delivered. Part of me thinks Saban has Chicken in his back pocket because the Rant is rule #1 of why no top level coach or recruit should want to come here.
You could write a book of coaches who were a better option than Coach O. When you coach at big schools there are very high expectations everywhere.
But if you are insinuating Coach O was the best LSU could do then you are out of your damn mind

give Coach O a chance to right the ship
I did. Actually several.
Then Moo State happened, then Troy happened, then he says he doesn't know which running back was supposed to get the ball, he has run ins with an OC that he hired , there's uncertainty floating around the program because of that. Canada is fired. Then the bowl game happened. He chooses to kick a field goal from within the 1 yard line when the kickers had been struggling all game. Then O has no search for a top name OC, instead chooses to promote from within.
Recruiting took a hit.
We've never lead by a single point against Alabama since he took over.
Tells the fans when he was permanently hired, "I know what the expectations at LSU are because they're my expectations and what I demand."
Then not even a week ago, he says, "be patient." He's effectively going into his third year as HC. He's a good DL coach, he's not a good HC.
I gave him chance after chance after chance. I'm done. I don't believe one word he says now.

Based on what???? I cheered for Miles in every game he coached... Yet when he screwed up I called him out on it... Something YOU will never do....

bullshite. ive always said he was a flawed coach, he was justly fired, and we had unacceptable losses.
ive posted that at least 1000 times.
stop applying your bullshite logic to posters that you dont apply to yourself.

Well, it's actually an opinion, but I think you already know that. Then again, seeing as it's you, I'm not so sure.

Well said Rick. But you don't seriously think dukke would do such a thing, do you?
And a word to the OP. It was time for Les to move on, but I personally miss him and knew that Alleva had made a HUGE mistake as soon as the 2016 Florida game had started.

Mostly because of the alternative. So probably.

If we're going to wallow in mediocrity I'd rather do it with a likable coach that was, at the very least, entertaining.
Exactly. I don't get buying him out for someone like O.
What in the actual world.. At least Miles still had us thought of as a contender, even in his last season. We are trending down so hard and it sucks to see.
Miles needed to go, it was becoming frustrating.. but if we aren't going to compete for championships I would much prefer Miles to still be coach over O. O didn't need to be a HC.. He could still have been an elite DL coach. There was no reason to promote him. In 2 shortened interim seasons he still lost 4 games.. and that was with very talented teams. He gets way too much credit for interim jobs and selling other people's programs.
