Anybody else hate the attempts to draw A&M offsides?

In the moment, yes. I didn't understand why that was plan A and just picking up the yard wasn't even on the table.

It rarely works. It's a throwaway where if it fails you get 5 more yards for the punter to pin them deep.

It’s frustrating. Did we hope to draw them offsides? Sure. But were we putting that on film—or in their minds—to run something else off later in the game or later in the year? 100%.
Coaches play a much longer game than most fans realize. The goal of every play is not to score a touchdown. We don’t need to give more carries to a RB just because he’s a “home run threat” and can potentially house a 60-yarder if he can’t consistently get the 4, 7, 12 yarders that keep you ahead of the sticks and keep the chains moving.
(Not a shot at Berry, who looked really good running the ball last night. I actually thought he had the best run of his LSU career last night. It’s for the people calling for him despite his poor blocking and the much higher likelihood of putting us in 2nd and 8 or 9 than Jones just because he “may” eventually get a huge hole to hit and outrun everybody 75 yards to the end zone once or twice a season.)
Games are long (we run 80-90 plays). Seasons are longer. Careers are even longer. Coaches/play callers play all 3 at once.

I didn’t hate the attempt but what bothered me was how Leavitt sort of gave up and walked towards the sideline while there were still a few seconds left on the clock. (That is not meant to be interpreted as throwing shade at him or anything)

the td pass was a result of the attempts to draw offside, all from about the same place on the field.

It didn’t work, but I don’t see much of a downside. As a matter of fact, it gives your opponents another thing to clog his mind, because they don’t know what the hell we might do….qb sneak, direct snap, hard count, or hit the Hawaiian for a 56 yd td.
