Students will definitely get vulgar, alumni not as much.

Sorry you had a bad time.I have never known UW or any fans to cheer for injuries. Not cool IF that happened.

As a recent alumnus who has spent the last few years as an undergraduate at UW, I can confirm that students are by far the most vulgar of the bunch. It does not mean they are vulgar an entire Saturday - just relative to alumni/older fans.

Also, students have cheered on an injury before. Back at the Rose Bowl in 2011 vs. Oregon, they chanted, "Shoot 'em like a duck!" when an Oregon player was on the ground.

Anyway, don't expect that many current students in Houston. Welcome Week is a big week of parties in Madison since it's the week before classes and everyone is moving back.

By in large, Wisconsin students are very fun fans. Wish you could experience Madison (and us Baton Rouge), but Houston and Green Bay will have to do!

That chant originated in the 80's as "shoot 'em like a horse"

For sure tasteless, but done in jest also. Again, only students have done this.

There is an attitude present with the students. If you get "Animal House", "Sconnie pride", with a bit of East coast swag, and roll with things you can have a great time with UW fans.

If you think that all fans are like Nebraska you will be disappointed. I respect those fans greatly-don't get me wrong. But there is room on the sports fans spectrum for other flavors.

LOL. I tell you the worst thing I ever yelled at a opposing fan during my time at LSU was "Tiger Bait". I never missed a home game from 93 to 97.

That is because we sucked and you are a pussy

There are limits to acceptable behavior for sports fans. Cheering that an opposing player is injured is inexcusable. The flavor of Wisconsin fans are classless jerks who get think it's cute to swear at fans of opposing teams and act like it's just part of the fun of Madison to behave that way.

What makes it worse is that older fans and alumni think it's cute when students act that way instead of telling them that there are acceptable ways of behavior.

Think of Wisconsin fans as jerks who think it's cute and funny to be bad sports and swear at opposing teams and insult your state and team and you get the picture. Nebraska fans should be the norm and not the exception.

Prepare for Wisconsin fans to lob all the negative stereotypes at Louisianans without the playfulness and with a meanness.

The other problem with Wisconsin fans is that they think college football and basketball were invented in 1990 and ignore their decades of truly mediocre and bad football and basketball teams.

Vulgarity and cheering that opposing players are hurt are not acceptable norms of being a sports fan. You see that is the problem with Wisconsin fans you think it's funny or cute to act that way.

Oh to my fellow LSU fans you have to give it back to them. I know it's not a good thing, but most Wisconsin fans are vulgar cowards who will back down if you give it back especially on the road where they won't have the numbers of approving fans.

I grew up in Wisconsin. They don't do anything LSU fans wouldn't do. Only difference is they probably drink more beer compared to liqour

I get where you are coming from, truly.
I even agree with a lot of it. I would like the swearing to decrease- but its a tough uphill cultural battle. In the meantime - at the core- all is in jest and UW folks are good, sportsman-like fans by and large.
(Talk about bad fans? In my experience it was Miami fans-jerry springer like)

However, I could see this coming from a Nebraska fan-since that is their norm- and that is kinda all they know. But you are an LSU fan. They aren't exactly Saints either. I have been to Tiger Stadium for night games vs Alabama and Auburn.I have read about how the LSU students have kinda vulgarized some of their songs - just like UW students have done for decades.

How do you rip on just Wisconsin fans (based on 1 trip) and justify some of the Tiger fan antics seems odd.

Go to hell Ole Miss
LSU's STTDB chant
Tiger Bait chant at opposing fans
etc

Oh well- I guess if you hate us so much then we won't be seeing you in Lambeau in 2016? Sucks that LSU is gonna play 4 hours from you and you won't wanna go. One extra ticket available for this guy.

I know but I do draw the line at saying the F word to people and chants with swear words in it.

Like I said the worse thing I ever said was "Tigerbait"

Ralph_Wiggum - you kind of blew your cover with the "Twin Cities" location. You come off sounding more like a bitter Minnesota Gopher fan (especially since Wisconsin has beaten MN in football for something like 10 years straight).

Having read your posts about LSU baseball and more importantly, your socialist views on the Poli Board, I can say that you truly do "fricking suck" and I wouldn't take those words from the Wisconsin fans personally. They just astutely picked up on your suckiness and lack of reasoning skills on sight alone and let you know about it. Fixing the problem starts at home, Ralph.
