Kinda seems like that is what he is asking.

Too many people here try and make someone feel like shite if they don't know something, then chastise them for asking.
Thank you.

Apparently I'm an a-hole for wondering if a man with a justifiably large ego feels slighted by being passed over for a job he likely feels qualified for, and if so, to what extent.

No, you're an a-hole because you refuse to use the search function.

No it doesn't. The search function SUCKS unless you have something pretty specific you are looking for. Sure, it can be found with a search but it isnt like he is asking what the final score was of the game Tuesday night.

This place is filled with douche bags who just want to try and make someone feel like shite.

I really hope people would learn how to use the search function and find the answers to their asinine questions instead of creating a new thread.

I skip many threads that do not interest me.

Why did you click on this one? Only to complain?

The search function on this website blows dick.

Just did some searching... most recent thread I found on this topic was from Christmas Eve, so prior to (a) Steele leaving and (b) LSU hiring Aranda.

Shea or jimmy D tweeted about O possibly not really wanting the DC job and being ok where he was. It was just a couple days ago. Don't feel like looking it up. There wasn't much to it so it came across as if it was floated his way or he was at least consulted. I think however it was done, O was not disrespected or overlooked. Every convo that takes place won't be posted on the rant but I have faith that it was done the right way. Bottom line: O is staying and Miles knocked it out of the park with Aranda. There is no negative lining here people. It's a good day for the Tigers

O is soon to get a nice pay raise and likely some type of new title. He doesn't need to be coordinator to get a shot at another head gig, that will come in time. Hell he'd have more to lose by taking the DC job.

The only people who feel O was slighted are his large legion of fan boys around here now.

When you are on a team that you like, referring to Coach O, more money to do the same job, just even better is more than a happy moment for O. I am sure he got or is getting a contract change and extension with more money. Now his job will not to mold smaller DE's, he will be molding in a 3-4 scheme a guy like Big Ed as a NG, Godcheaux at RDT, and probably Lewis Neal because he is short and nothing but muscle. However, Big Ed is the only new comer I named, but if we get Shavar Manuel could start at LDT or rotate with Lewis Neal and a guy like Christmas to rotate out with Big Ed, we will be in good shape. And of course we still have Gilmore, Herron, and any one of the Faster DE's to rotate in.

Most people thought I was crazy when I said that our DE's would end up playing OLB or MLB in a 3-4 scheme. It allows you to put some big arse athletic players on the field. And with a rotation of Smaller faster LB's and a blend of bigger but still fast DE's play some LB position we can handle the up-tempo teams with our cover LB's and Big OL's who run the ball with our Bigger LB's. I think Aranda will put a great plan in place, so enough of my Opinion... Lets just watch and see.

I posted the Michigan situation before Aranda was known as the new DC. I thought, maybe this is what Ed O would do at LSU

At Michigan Greg Mattison graciously stepped down as DC when Harbaugh came in and they hired Durkin to coach defense. Mattison's defense was pretty damn good while he was DC so for him to take the DL position must mean that he really wanted to stay at Michigan. They paid him a boatload at 750k which is 200k more than Aranda made to be DC and LB coach at Wisky. Depending on the extra pay, Mattison's pay would be ranked anywhere from 23-25 on the list of defensive coordinators and all he coaches is the DL!

So this got me thinking, maybe that's all coach O wants to do for the time being. He can get 700-750k and be the DL coach and heavy recruiter. Doesn't have to have the responsibilities of a DC and can stay down in the trenches like he has done most of his career.
