I agree, but probably not for the same reason.
What's the reason that you feel a change is needed?

Anyone whose opinion of the LSU System President is based on football is a fricking retard. The football team probably makes up less than 2% of his job. It is infinitely more important that he appropriately steward the flagship that produces the vast majority of the state’s MDs, JDs, engineers, accountants, businessmen and women, dentists, computer scientists, journalists, teachers, and college graduates (I’m leaving out many, I know) than it is that he fields a good football team, you fricking dope
Yes, ensuring academic success on LSU's 9 "campuses" across Louisiana sits firmly at the top of his list. However, you're completely misguided if you really believe that a successful LSU football program doesn't greatly benefit the entire university.
In the 2016-17 academic year, LSU's football program pulled in $86 million in revenue while generating a $56 million profit. The well being of the profitable football program sits higher on F.King's list than you implied.

I would give a donation for that. He is the reason we kept Les for 10 more months and lost Jimbo.
fricking socialist, trying to tell private donors how to spend their money.

I’m hearing from some booster friends (same that have in some instances stopped donating) that under almost any scenario, even just a 4 win season, that O will be retained.
IF (not saying it happens) LSU goes 4-8, I’ll bet any takers $500 O is not retained.

Your post makes a lot of sense. I would like to know the people responsible for hiring Alleva. Evidently the booster could do nothing to prevent it. LSU's problem more than anything is poor leadership. Hence Alleva and Orgeron.

shiiieeeeeet, name me any P5 program that would interview O.
I doubt even oregon state or kansas would waste their time.

I know there's so many "fans" who are just begging for some kind of epic collapse, but LSU will coast around poll #'s 12-25 for the rest of eternity.
If LSU goes 8-5 this year, the recruiting class will probably not have as strong a finish as predicted, finishing somewhere around 10.
Herr Pomansky has already started working his PR machine for LSUs 2019 run: billy gomilla of ATVS and Bruce Feldman are already hyping up LSU as a playoff contender for 2019.
TL;DR - short of a 10 win *REGULAR* season this year which probably gets O an extension, O is gone after 2019 if he goes 0/3 on SEC West titles.

While I have no idea if you really have insight or not this actually sounds like a very plausible plan.
They will give coach "O" one more year no matter what especially since this years recruiting class is shaping up to be very good.

I'll settle for Alleva getting the ax this year.

If Orgeron goes 4-8, I bet your "booster" friends are wrong.
Alleva will be canned by Thanksgiving and a new AD will come in and immediately replace Orgeron.
A coach can't go 4-8 at LSU and still have a job. That completely undermines our program's expectations and will do permanent damage.

People can say stuff like this all they want but the bottom line is if we can’t beat one of Auburn, UGA, or Alabama, people are going to be disgruntled. No danger of being fired imo (right or wrong) but people sure won’t be thrilled.
If he takes care of business week 1 and gets things started on a positive note that will be one to hang his hat on. But throw in a Game 1 loss to Miami with those others and all of a sudden things are going to be very difficult for O all offseason.
Now if he loses to all of those teams and also adds in a loss to Mullen (again) in his first year at Florida, lets Jimbo and the Ags break our streak or heaven forbid he loses to MSU for the second consecutive year IN TIGER STADIUM to a first year ever head coach???
That would be 7-5 with bad losses to rival programs that are rebuilding and anyone that honestly thinks he wouldnt be in very serious jeopardy of losing his job if he loses to the big four and adds in one of those is being completely naive.
Lose two or more to those three key rivals and coaches in addition to the big four and I say the odds are he is fired.
Think about it. Miles was not on the hot seat in 2015 in any way shape or form. He gets to #2 in the country in November, then loses three straight and he is basically toast.
If you don’t think the atmosphere in Baton Rouge is going to be absolute hysteria if we start off 1-2 and then lose multiple games in that Florida, Georgia, MSU stretch before we even get to Alabama you haven’t been a fan very long.
If we are 4-4 going into Alabama O will 100% be on the hot seat going into November and with a likely loss to Saban, that would mean that TAM game would just be to finish above .500 for the year and I believe he would basically be coaching for his job similar to Miles in 15.
I don’t care about the offseason level headed talk about money, buyouts, recruiting class, National perception, whatever. If we start dropping games to those teams and coaches all bets are off.
If we are looking at a 6-6 or even a 7-5 season O is likely toast and rightfully so.
It’s easy to look at a macro view in the offseason and say well 7-5 wouldn’t be THAT bad.
But look at it as the weeks are playing out during the season.
Seriously, what positive signs at all would we have throughout the season?? He would basically be 0-3 against the top teams and 1-3 or 2-2 against the second tier teams we play.
Flat out unacceptable and we would be inundated with the reality of the situation virtually every week for three months.
I don’t think he will survive that no matter what any “boosters” say in July.

Get some new "booster" friends. 4 wins and Alleva's office will be burned down

Everything you have said is true. We just have to be patient at this point.

LSU wins 4 games and LSU will lose a helluva lot more in donations and season ticket sales than the buyout.
I believe Alleva will be leaving soon on his accord to make matters easier

how much you wanna bet that crootin class implodes if this year goes south in a hurry?
not predicting it will, but you wanna see recruits jump ship? go lose 6-7 games in a season and see how well that class sticks together with the likes of Saban, Fisher, Malzahn, Morris, Mullen, Herman and Smart licking their chops.

My hope and desire is that O wins and Alleva still gets fired. I think the boosters would be okay with that scenario!

Bumping this thread solely because it was quoted extensively today on Finebaum's show.
I agree Alleva gets axed first.
Whether O stays much beyond Alleva's firing is another story.
We shall see...
