It has been months since any news. Why doesn't the media push this topic to get the ball rolling? I can't believe Ole Miss got a new arena before us.

The last thing Scott wants to do is upgrade or rebuild the pmac. Wade held him to the fire on it and he hated him and fired him

Money first has to be raised to move the track facility. Then new arena in that spot. PMAC stays in place long term. This will take a while I suspect…maybe as long as our men’s bball rebuild

But if Mulkey wants it, Woody doesn’t have much of a choice.

Partially true, they have the “money” for new arena, being built by 3rd party who gets rights for all concert revenue from it. If done correctly a win win for LSU and BTR! Much better concerts and a modern arena. PMAC used fro special events and practice gym etc. TBA shortly.

So you mean naming rights? Like Ceasars Super Dome or Handcock - Whitney Stadium?

That would be separate, there are companies now (see Texas’ new arena) that will pretty much pay for the whole arena for rights to revenues from other events for 10-15 years.

Is this based on actual LSU info or just speculation based on the current landscape of athletic facilities construction and funding?

I heard the same about the 3rd party from someone inside the athletic dept. also heard after a set time period the company would donate it back to the school. Will be built where the current track is.

That's interesting. I heard about track moving but nothing on the PMAC funding.

It’s fact, not a down deal but close, TAF meetings last month approved it to go froward. Again, look at U Texas arena, same model..

Completely new facility:

They've hosted the Spurs for a couple games, UFC events, a number of A-list concerts, and more in addition to the UT men's and women's basketball games. They even hosted the Country Music Awards back in April.

They are now tearing down the old facility it replaced, the Frank Erwin Center.

I’ve heard something similar, with the new facility being built off Nicholson near the Water Campus. Also, new track stadium and other facilities will be moved near Alex Box.
