Ime excited to see our safeties. Jay Ward has really come along and Major Burns has potential to be great. Rotating in Foucha and Davis is gonna help a lot too.

Jay Ward and Burns both being a little light weight wise is a concern.

It is worrisome that a McNeese transfer walked in and grabbed a starting spot

He earned that by holding his own against Boutte and Nabers…….. Not many WRs in the nation better than those 2…….Put Some Respect on that man

CB is the position group that will determine whether this team is a 6-7 win team or can reach 8-9 wins

I find that a weird thing to declare.

Are the CBs on the roster boom or bust guys? Or do You have a high level of confidence in your opinion of all other position groups except CB which is the biggest unknown? What’s your rebuttal if someone says “no the position group that will determine the teams record is QB/OL/DL etc…”? I just genuinely don’t understand what point this statement is intended to make.

I’ll say two things about our secondary this year.

They’re a very veteran unit and they been practicing against a WR group that’s better than any group, save Alabama, they’ll play all year.

I think they play very well assuming health.

I don’t know about their coverage skills, but I bet there will be fewer breakdowns and the tackling will be much better
this man gets it. There is too much experience back there not to at least be serviceable...on their own.

Add a good up front pressure and you could see a lot of success in shutting down a passing game.

I only worry about elite teams with WRs that can burn us.

By game 5 they will be solid and that’s the first time they will be tested

I agree with you. The coach has been talking them up, and this is the basis for everyone’s confidence, but the coach has talked up every unit. Either we have a great team, or more likely, this secondary is going to suck.
