Heck, if '10 could resemble '07 I'd take that in a heart beat.

What do you think the chances are that could happen?

Graspin' for something positive.

My biggest concern as well. I don't think Garrett will be ready for the rigors of the SEC as a RS Fr and JJ/JL have pretty much demonstrated that don't have what it takes to do what Crowton expects of them.

Maybe Gonzales could be the X-factor?

Crowton and Chavis both were victoms of poor lines. We had the worst lines of any LSU team this decade.

No running game and zero pass protection = no offense.

Blitz on thrird down and never getting to the QB = 3rd and Chavis.

If we can improve the lines with the new faces next year, we will see drastic improvement on both sides of the ball.

The scheme that was good enough to set records and win the NC has not changed so the answer is yes if(A)The QB play improves mentally, in execution and in leadership skills (B)The Oline improves say 20% in efficiency. The rest, skill position depth, speed, desire, that's already in place. Gary and Les just have not been able to adapt their schemes to young guys with talent but lacking know-how and leadership. Hell, with the points and yardage of '08 less the turnovers the team could compete for titles next season IMO.

we can hope, and it is possible with a more experienced qb that it can happen. i don't know that it will, but i do think our offense will be better. but then, it can't get much worse.

Due in large part to almost zero push up the middle. When you have a disrupter drawing double-teams at the point of attack, your blitz packages will have a much higher efficiency rate. That should come next year with Davenport, Brockers and Montgomery hitting the field.

I'd prefer he return to his '06 form (and location).

NO! he can't do anything with out Oline and we don't have a QB that can figure out what he wants. either he changes his schemes (which he hasn't) or we change the OC (which we haven't). definition of insanity: doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. Crowton is insane.

I think Crowton will return to his '07 form since he will have an experinced quarterback to run his offense. If he dosen't than he should be replaced.

Wow. Glimpses of sanity are returning. True, it's only glimpses and the inmates will surely return to the asylum after class today and turn this into every other thread on TD.com for the past month. But it's nice to see there are some in the fanbase who actually understand a thing or two about football.

And isn't the coaching staff responsible for recruiting and developing the lines?

As much as I'd love for to see it, I don't see it happening. I fear as long as Studwara and GC remain here, we'll have "3'n Crowton"*.

* Reference to all the 3-and-outs. I just made it up.

At this moment, I don't see why anyone would think the chances are great. As long as we are weak on the lines and at QB,it's going to be tough. And I don't have any reason to believe there is going to be any schematic or philosophical change among the coaches.

We might have the best offense in LSU history in 2010, but I'm gonna have to see it to believe it.
