TJ was seen as a decent hire from a mid-major. We really have to be careful this time. Getting to the NCAA Tournament next season is a MUST. After that, the new coach is going to have to bring CONSISTENT sucess (which John Brady did a decent job resurrecting the program for a time but he could not win and make the Big Dance consistently). Getting to the NCAA should be a REQUIREMENT with some Sweet 16s, Elite Eights, and Finals Fours sprinkled in. It is about time we won a national title around here.

Maybe Anthony Davis is the man. I don't have anything against him. I'd be willing to see the BOS give him an interview. But we can't make a mistake this time.

we need to make a Nick Saban/Les Miles type hire to feed the fans wishes for basketball.

Neither Saban, nor Miles were considered "homerun" hires at the time.

With Hamilton leaving we aren't making the tourney next year unless the new coach brings some recruits with him.

Swagg is my most coveted trait...

And why would he use this as stepping stone? He has no affiliation with big time schools so if he comes here and is successful he may hangout here of of loyalty to the school that gave him at shot.

Stanford is not a mid-major school. I agree we have to be extremely careful and make a great hire this time because a bad hire hear could really set us back another 4 years. And definitely I'm with you on the winning a ship part. Would be a year long party.

The Brow is the player who played at UK this year. Anthony Evans is the coach at Norfolk State.

I'm affraid I'm going to have to agree with you, unless a miracle happens. The tourney was dominated and won by the big men this year. Maybe a shift for the next few years.

We could definitely use a Swaggalicious makeover, kind of like Chip Kelly did with Oregon and Scott Drew is/was doing at Baylor, which why I also wouldn't mind Drew if there's no consequences that will follow him. Not many people view us an all-around sports school these days because football has taken the spotlight. I think we can use a coach who young players respect and also want to be like.

That's always a possibility with any school, unless you're Duke, UK, or UNC. You don't leave those schools. Anywhere else you just have to hope, support the program, and make the coach see that this is the best place for him.

NO comment. If LSU has to pull a coach from small potatoes like that then they are not committed to their bb program. I don't care how good he is, recruits will go elsewhere and the fan base will not be energized.

You obviously didn't watch this guy in action. And further more, how far up the popular ladder do you think we are as a basketball program? Who have you heard beating down our doors to come here?

At this point, a good, young coach with charisma and winning are the only things that are going to rebrand LSU. We have to look in every corner of this country to find the right guy who is willing to grow with LSU.

This guy Evans has taken his bumps and paid his dues. He has ended up winning at every level in college basketball.

A little bit about the guy.

He's also just in his early 40's, but he looks way younger than that. I think that will also be import. It's seems that what the kids are responding to. Maybe except for those top tier legendary coaches still going at it.

I thank you for the kind words! It would be a great opportunity to coach at a prestigious university like LSU. I grew up watching Dale Brown put the LSU program in the national spot light.

He would definitely be cheap which would leave a little more money to put towards recruiting.

I like thinking outside the box, but I don't see any experience at a bcs school. I would like to see at least some experience as an assistant at a high major.

The guy won one game (albeit a big one) in the tournament and got absolutely blasted in the second game. He may be a good coach, but if his team doesn't play lights-out against Mizzou, we never even hear of him. Every year following the tournament there are one or two guys that pull an upset, then the whole country is convinced he his the next big thing. I'm always a little leary of these "flash in the pan" hires. I don't think LSU as a program is "above" hiring a mid-major coach, but the program isn't so low that they shouldn't even think about trying to lure a proven coach away from a power conf. school.

Might be a good one.......if LSU is interested......

Norfolk State athletics director Marty Miller told Sporting News on Saturday he has a "gut feeling" that Anthony Evans will get multiple calls this spring from bigger programs with head coaching vacancies to fill.

Evans, who led them to the greatest win in program history Friday, has been head coach at NSU since '07. He is under contract for two more seasons at a salary believed to be well under $200,000. Sporting News was unable to pin down the exact figure Saturday, but suffice it to say a step up in conference affiliation for Evans, 40, almost surely would come with a significant rise in compensation.

"I already feel it. I expect it. I expect he'll get some calls," Miller said outside a CenturyLink Center interview room in which Evans was speaking to media who witnessed 15th-seeded NSU's momentous 86-84 upset of No. 2 seed Missouri. "I expect he'll get some calls.

Norfolk State athletic director Marty Miller figures Anthony Evans will field some calls from bigger programs about coaching those teams. If that's something Evans wants to pursue, Miller won't stand in his way. (AP Photo)
"I look every day in the paper, and coaches are getting fired. Somebody has to replace them. You know individuals are out there looking at successful coaches and now at Anthony, especially with him being at Norfolk State and what he had to work with, and just beating one of the top programs in the country. He's a great coach."

Miller also said he expects he and Evans will discuss the coach's contract when the Spartans' NCAA Tournament run is over. But if bigger schools come calling, Miller won't necessarily try to compete with them for Evans' services.

Sorry for the Double post.

No I just simply asked the guy a question. He's real down-to-earth and very accessible. Real cool. I'm just throwing another name in the hat like everyone is at this time. I would be behind a few of the other guys mentioned as well. We need all the buzz we can get. Maybe if some of the coaches some of you mentioned see that others are starting to show a lot of interest we'll have some kind of competition, but as of now tumbleweeds are rolling around BR as far as bball is concerned.
