Arizona state doesn’t have the pitching to win a regional.
If you look at their schedule, they didn’t win a series against any teams worth a damn. Lost series to usc, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon state, Washington and Nebraska. Won zero series of value imo

Been watching Southern Miss for many years. This year’s squad is not as deep as those in previous years. They really struggled down the stretch...lost last three series before winning their tournament. C-USA is a one-bid Conference....very weak this year. Matt Wallner (OF) is a stud and will be drafted this year....he just broke the school’s all-time homerun record in three seasons (54). Scrappy team that played well in their tournament. Would not have gotten into field of 64 if hadn’t won tournament. Would love to hear about this year’s Stony Brook team.

Dominant starters? No. Southern miss has stevie powers, he is okay, and probably who would throw against us if they win the opener. Zona st doesnt have lefty starters

Arizona St and Southern Miss both have an ace (right handed). Teams always gamble and try to hold on for Saturday but I don’t see how either can on Friday.

Based on this Arizona State appears to be the class of this regional.

They had a stud pitcher last season that left, but it looks like they are deeper overall. I hope that first game goes 30 innings.
