Announcers on bowl game tonight stated both teams had stayed intact

W. Michigan and S. Alabama. No opt outs or transfers. So apparently it is possible.

They still have time to enter the portal. This game is so early in the bowl season, they have time to play this game, take a few days off and still hit the portal.
I believe the last day to enter the portal during this early window is Dec 21? I vaguely recall from last year that there are a few other factors, though. One was, if your head coach leaves, a new window opened for a certain number of days.

South Alabama’s leading receiver opted out of the game to enter the draft, their leading rusher is in the portal and not playing.

Pretty sure i heard it's the 28. Name has to be in at that time but they can take more time to decide where they are going

This is incorrect.
South was at least three who opted for Portal.
RB Fluff Bothwell - TR FR, All SBC, Opted for Portal
K Lairh Marjan - All SBC, Opted for Portal
DB Scruggs - Opted for Portal
Others Missing:
QB Gio Lopez - injured in regular season finale, on sidelines in a walking boot. Has announced he’s returning to USA next year
WR Jamal Pritchett - “conflicting reports”. He was on the sidelines in street clothes. Announcer said he was hurt, but read where he opted out.
I know they mentioned, late in the game, two WMU guys who were playing their final game before heading to the NFL.
FWIW, I mentioned the K out for USA. They missed a 22 yard FG and a PAT in the first half. Could have been important to the game - and I think might have made a difference “for entertainment purposes”

I don’t know what you think you heard but,….this is incorrect. I live in Mobile and follow South and there were many opt outs. Especially on offense.

Or the announcers were wrong (hint, they were wrong).
South Alabama - 4 players in the portal, 3 before the bowl game, and 1 more since the bowl game.
Western Michigan - 12 players in the portal all before the bowl game.
Maybe they were all on the roster for the bowl game except the one for W Mich who had already committed elsewhere.
